A bit about us.
Grind is a hospitality company that lives in London. Since opening Shoreditch Grind in 2011, we've expanded across London with cafés serving coffee, food and cocktails - as well as coffee trucks and a state-of-the-art coffee roastery.
Coffee is at the forefront of what we do and who we are. We are coffee specialists and have always aspired to deliver the best quality, service, and consistency of product at all our Grind locations. Each of our cafés has an incredible team serving speciality coffee, mixing cocktails, and cooking amazing food—all to the beat of a great playlist.
We think coffee can be a force for good. Whether it's through creating the UK's first compostable coffee pods, our plastic-free packaging or carbon-free shipping - we're on a mission to be the world's most sustainable coffee company.
In 2023, we created our charity, the Better Coffee Foundation, to undo the damage done by the global coffee industry - in our first year, we recovered 43 million pods' worth of ocean-bound plastic.

Role responsibilities.
Lead from the front: support Bar Managers and teams with a hands-on approach, working in venues regularly (including weekends) to uphold Grind’s standards.
Drive training and development: lead bartender training, upskilling, and L&D initiatives to ensure consistent service and growth across all sites.
Own beverage quality: manage supplier relationships to maintain top-tier product standards and resolve any supply chain issues with long-term solutions.
Manage brand partnerships: be the key contact for all beverage brand partners, maximising the value of retro deals through volume targets and activations.
Champion culture: foster an inclusive, supportive environment across all locations, upholding Grind’s values and maintaining strong team relationships.
Oversee bar operations: ensure excellence in bar execution: recipe accuracy, speed of service, product quality, equipment maintenance, and customer experience.
Lead menu development: take full ownership of drink innovation and bar menu creation in collaboration with Bar Managers.
Hit the numbers: be accountable for delivering group beverage margin targets, with support from Bar Managers.
Keep things flowing: ensure all beverage products are sourced through approved suppliers to maximise margin and minimise waste.
Stay on top of stock: oversee monthly stock takes, analyse variances, and drive improvements in stock accuracy and margin control.
You’ll have.
Solid experience: proven track record of leadership within bar management at a group-level or a similar leadership role.
Strong operational skills: confident with BOH systems, P&L reporting, procurement tools, and recipe & rota software.
Excellent communication: able to clearly connect with both site teams and support functions to keep everything running smoothly.
Leadership presence: capable of leading busy services, setting the standard, and motivating bartenders with a positive, hands-on approach.
