Situated on Montauk's most pristine stretch of oceanfront real estate, Gurney's is a Hamptons icon and the only year-round resort in Montauk. Providing guests with direct access to a 2,000-foot private sand beach, Gurney's features 146 rooms, suites, and beachfront cottages, all delivering dramatic ocean views. With five unique dining and drinking venues, Gurney's presents an array of food and beverage options, from elegant seasonal cuisine to casual fare to craft cocktails. Gurney's also offers over 25,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space, for hosting a wide range of business and social events. Our acclaimed spa is renowned for its healing treatments and ocean-fed seawater pool, the only pool of its kind in North America. All the venues at Gurney's enjoy spectacular views of the Atlantic, but none more so than The Beach Club, which provides the only beachfront food and beverage service experience in the Hamptons.

Gurney's is searching for an experienced Restaurant Manager to join our team. This may be a seasonal of full-time position starting in May 2020.

The Restaurant Manager assists in managing all aspects of the Food and Beverage department while maintaining the highest standards in service and quality. This position assists in training and supervising floor operations. They also must develop relationships with employees and guests to ensure quality service.


CORE FOCUS & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Qualified candidates must be able to satisfactorily complete the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned:

Maintains and checks the cleanliness of the Restaurant, Bar and Room Service.
Attends Food & Beverage meetings and any other meetings regarding F & B business.
Creates Food & Beverage BEO’s.
Assists in monitoring labor costs in accordance with budgetary restrictions by adjusting staffing levels based on business.
Maintain open lines of communication with all other departments, particularly other Food and Beverage venues.
Maintain complete knowledge of Micros P.O.S. system.
Inspect grooming standards and correct any deficiencies.
Know menu items, preparation techniques and service requirements for designated areas and assigned sections.
Inspects safety hazards, correct furniture and equipment set up.
Maintain knowledge of VIP’s
Maintain constant communication with guest, staff and kitchen.
Ensure proper equipment and necessary par levels are available to staff prior to the start of their shift.
Check attendance of staff and be aware of any attendance issues
Prepare and Complete all necessary payroll adjustments and approvals in the timeline issued by the Payroll Manager. This includes Tip Reports.
Hold line up meetings before each shift with the department, informing staff of latest developments within the property they may effect the shift
Ensure that all staff adheres to their break schedule.
Follow established Gurney’s service sequence for consistent food and beverage guest experiences.
Handle payment for guest purchases in compliance with Gurney’s cash handling procedures.
Properly ring guest orders through POS system.
Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
Work with your team and communicate needs, ideas and issues to upper management.
Maintain current and accurate knowledge of the menu.
Follow all safety and sanitation policies.
Upsell items to guests.
Properly check all guests’ identification to ensure legal age compliance.
Perform sidework as needed.
Ensure server stations are clean and organized.
