ROLE PURPOSE:

Lead the day to day activities of the finance team in delivering it’s objectives of providing timely, accurate, and complete business information and decision support in a constructive yet challenging way.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITY:

-Full ownership and accountability for the preparation / publication of ALL actual financial reporting (P&L and balance sheet), including variance analysis to comparatives, and supplementary operational KPI reporting.
-Provision of leadership, support, motivation, training, coaching and development to individuals within the Finance team, and the wider head office team.
-Lead the preparation / co-ordination of the annual budget process
-Lead the completion of the annual audit process, including production of the annual accounts
-Prepare the quarterly covenant reporting for review with the CFO / CEO
-Prepare operational cash flow forecast for review with CFO / CEO
-Promote a continuous improvement approach to business policy / process / systems, furthered by participation in cross functional team projects.
-Individual will also take on the role of company secretary for the business

SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES & KNOWLEDGE

Skills / Attributes:
-Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels
-Confident team player able to work effectively and deliver results in a pressurised environment
-Diligent with an attention to detail
-Proactive self-starter with the ambition to develop their own career and contribute to the future success of this leading organisation.
-Strong organisational / time management skills with a flexible and enthusiastic approach to work
-Able to analyse complex financial data and present to non-financial managers / Board Directors.
-Proven ability to add value through identification of work-flow and process improvement opportunities
-Able to identify and evaluate the impact of operational actions all the way through to the trial balance.
-Able to give and receive feedback effectively
-Able to lead and build successful teams in a challenging environment.
-Up for a challenge

Knowledge:
-Detailed understanding of applicable accounting principles, including but not limited to revenue recognition, expense accruals, stock valuation, fixed assets, prepayments
-Strong Microsoft Excel skills (working knowledge of vlookup, sumif, pivot tables, graphs, nested if statements, AND, OR functions, etc)
-The ideal candidate will also have a keen interest in the health & fitness / leisure & hospitality industry.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Required:
- Qualified accountant with proven career in commercial environment
- Educated to degree level (2:1 or higher) / or equivalent
- Management of team delivering consistent reporting to tight deadlines in a multi-site environment
- Led successful process improvement activities and be able to quantify impact
- Led the preparation of the annual budgets and re-forecasts
Preferred:
-Working understanding of various business systems i.e. finance system, procurement system, payroll systems, etc.
-Experience of NetSuite system advantageous but not essential
-Strong working knowledge of other MS Office packages (MS Word, MS Access, MS Powerpoint)
-Preparation of annual accounts
