About Harlem Hookah

Harlem Hookah is the only one of its type in Manhattan, with luxe decor, modern chic ambiance, lively energy, and a custom array of shisha and spirits to make every guest feel embraced. Connoisseurs and new shisha enthusiasts relax and mingle after work or on weekend nights as well as during Sunday brunch while enjoying the comfort of retreating within the newest Harlem oasis.

Key Responsibilities
• Ability to work without assistance and prepare food items independently, while maintaining short ticket times
• Manage overall kitchen and food safety/sanitation; ensuring highest quality Check freshness of food and ingredients
• Adhere to established food preparation and operational standards
• Hire, train, supervise and coordinate activities of all food preparation staff
• Develop menus, recipes and determine overall presentation of food
• Ensure uniform serving sizes and quality of meals
• Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas for cleanliness and functionality
• Manage inventory of food and supplies needed to ensure efficient operations
• Monitor sanitation practices and ensure that kitchen safety standards are followed
• Prepare work stations and fulfill orders in a timely manner
• Set up stations and collect all necessary supplies to prepare menu for service
• Prepare a variety of foods; meat, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and cold food items
• Arrange sauces and supplementary garnishes for allocated station
• Cover, date and correctly store all bits and pieces and food prep items
• Collaborate with Management to ensure highest level of quality at all times
• Serve menu items compliant with established standards
• Use food preparation tools in accordance with manufactures instructions
• Close the kitchen correctly and follow the closing checklist for kitchen stations
• Maintain a prepared and sanitary work area at all times
• Keep the work area fresh all through the shift
• Make sure all storage areas are tidy and all products are stored appropriately
• Constantly use safe and hygienic food handling practices
• Returns dirty food preparation utensils to the appropriate areas
• Provide excellent customer service to all guests


Qualifications
• New York City Food Handlers License
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a line cook
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
• Demonstrate strong collaboration skills and comfortable working with diverse stakeholders across the company and externally
• Must be able to withstand prolonged standing, bending and walking

WE ARE OPEN UNTIL 4 AM DAILY, WHICH MEANS 6 AM DEPATURE
