Houston & Hawkes is looking for an accomplished and ambitious Sous Chef to join our culinary team at a prestigious international law firm near St Paul’s Cathedral. This is a fantastic opportunity for a chef who wants to deliver outstanding food in a sophisticated professional environment while enjoying a Monday-to-Friday working pattern.

Our food offer brings together fresh, seasonal retail dining and beautifully executed corporate hospitality. From vibrant daily menus and thoughtfully prepared lunches to elegant client dining, canapés and bespoke events, this role offers genuine variety and the opportunity to demonstrate both culinary skill and creativity.

Working closely with the Head Chef, you will play a key role in maintaining exceptional standards, inspiring the kitchen team and developing food that reflects the quality, imagination and attention to detail for which Houston & Hawkes is known.

THE ROLE

• Work alongside the Head Chef to deliver an outstanding food offer across retail dining and premium corporate hospitality.
• Prepare fresh, seasonal dishes with exceptional flavour, consistency and presentation.
• Help develop exciting menus, daily specials and new food concepts, bringing creativity and commercial awareness to the kitchen.
• Deliver refined hospitality for client meetings, working lunches, executive dining and special events.
• Prepare beautifully presented canapés, bowl food, plated dishes and bespoke menus to suit different occasions.
• Lead by example throughout preparation and service, maintaining a calm, organised and professional kitchen.
• Coach, motivate and develop junior chefs, encouraging high standards and a positive team culture.
• Support ordering, stock management, food-cost control, portioning and waste reduction.
• Maintain impeccable food safety, allergen, hygiene and health and safety standards.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

• An experienced Sous Chef, or a highly capable Junior Sous Chef ready to progress, from a quality-led kitchen.
• A strong background in premium contract catering, restaurants, fine dining or high-end hospitality.
• Excellent cooking skills, a passion for fresh ingredients and a genuine understanding of seasonality and presentation.
• Confidence delivering both a vibrant retail food offer and refined hospitality for meetings and events.
• A creative mindset and an eye for detail, with pride in every dish that leaves the kitchen.
• A calm, supportive leader who enjoys developing others and working collaboratively with the Head Chef.
• Sound organisational skills and an understanding of food costs, stock control and kitchen efficiency.
