Job description

Sales & Events Manager – Hawksmoor Chicago
Chicago is the historical powerhouse of American beef, and when Hawksmoor found out about an actual powerhouse building, it felt like fate. So, after years of dreaming, we’ve set out eyes on coming to Chicago. And we’ve found ourselves a home we cannot wait to settle into.

The LaSalle Street Cable Car Powerhouse is a beautiful, designated landmark, initially opened in 1887, in the heyday of Chicago’s cable car system. We intend to do it justice by restoring the original features to their former glory and, at the same time, breathe new life into the space.

Reporting to the US Sales & Marketing Director, we’re looking for a brand-new Sales & Events Manager to join our team and open our second international restaurant in Chicago.

Work somewhere awesome:

Careers with Hawksmoor Group are among the best – generous pay and benefits, award-winning restaurants, unrivalled career opportunities and some of the happiest people in the business (as voted by the people who work here). The Sunday Times has recognised us in their Best Companies awards, for seven years in a row, as one of the top 100 companies to work for in the UK and we endeavour to do the same in the US.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Creating and being responsible for the pre-opening sales programme, launch activity and after launch momentum needed to ensure a successful launch with fully booked private dining rooms and restaurant at launch and for months/years to come
  • Promoting Hawksmoor to the discerning diners, eg producing a Hawksmoor Private Dining sales pack which will work as a specific communications tool for all types of booker – from the concierge to the personal assistant and core business events booker
  • Producing all sales and event point of sale material/paper collateral, email s, PDFs, website section, sales content for social media and information for the key listings guides and b2b memberships
  • Ensuring all digital tools, reservations systems, online booking systems, database, CRM systems and software are best in business and within budget (eg Tripleseat or another)
  • Liaising and communicating with all key Hawksmoor personnel – restaurant director, general manager, bar manager, reception personnel, chefs etc to ensure calm and considered relationships at all times
  • Embedding the Hawksmoor the brand and ethics into the dining scene, with the ambition to establish this new steak house as a respected long-term cornerstone of Chicago culture.
  • Identify and own the customer relationships through quietly confident sales campaigns, targeting corporates, discerning steak diners, domestic and international tourists, media and NY food critics, families, brunchers and contemporary steak lovers.
  • Working closely with the Marketing Director to lead all brand and marketing events including the marketing of the menu, sourcing, provenance, seasonality, restaurant design, people personalities/staff members through to cocktails, bar, drinks, private dining and local brand story telling on social media.
  • Curating regular creative and commercial events, press tastings, private dining experiences, showcases for key bookers/concierge and Pas to drive new footfall, reservations and PDR bookings.
To be considered for the role you will have:
  • Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics, which inspire team members to meet and exceed standards
  • Polished personal presentation; grooming meets Company standards, as outlined by Employee Handbook
  • Communicates information effectively and efficiently
  • Able to work nights, weekends and holidays, and variable schedule, per the needs of the business
  • Ability to walk, stand, and/or bend continuously and for extended periods as required to perform essential job functions
