Sommelier

Description

Hawksmoor is opening in an incredible restaurant space in New York: a beautiful National Historic Landmark built as The United Charities Building in 1893 with an incredible 10 metre ceilinged assembly hall that will form the main room of the restaurant. The location is just off Park Avenue South and north of the prestigious Gramercy Park and Union Square. The restaurant will be 170 seats with a 50-cover bar.

Reporting to the Bar/ Beverage Manager and Lead Sommelier, we’re looking for a brand-new Sommelier to join our team and open our first international restaurant in New York.
Work somewhere awesome:

Careers with Hawksmoor Group are among the best – generous pay and benefits, award-winning restaurants, unrivalled career opportunities and some of the happiest people in the business (as voted by the people who work here). The Sunday Times has recognized us in their Best Companies awards, for seven years in a row, as one of the top 100 companies to work for in the UK and we endeavor to do the same in the US.

Key responsibilities of the role include:
• Successfully executing the Hawksmoor wine program in NYC.
• Supporting the Lead Sommelier in running and maintaining the wine program in NYC.
• Ensure service and hospitality standards are high and consistent through good understanding of the full wine program and all other products.
• Being a strong presence on the floor supporting the Front of House team.
To be considered for the role you will have:
• Extensive experience working in some of the best bars and restaurants in New York.
• Experience launching and opening restaurants and bars in New York and the US.
• Comfortable and experienced with high volume businesses in terms of both covers and revenue.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work harmoniously with all departments.
• Exemplary product knowledge of food and beverage and specifically wine.

Salary, package and benefits all to be discussed at the interview.
