Area Assistant Manager – Pubs, Restaurants & Hotels  
Area: Hampshire, Dorset & Berkshire  


  • Support the Area/Regional Manager in the day-to-day operation of multiple pubs, restaurants and hotel sites.
  • Ensure excellent guest service, food quality and accommodation standards across all locations.
  • Lead, coach and develop General Managers, Assistant Managers and wider teams.
  • Monitor sales, labour costs, GP, wastage and other key financial targets.
  • Drive food and beverage sales, room occupancy and overall site profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with licensing, food safety, health & safety and company policies.
  • Carry out regular site visits, audits and operational reviews.
  • Support recruitment, training, succession planning and performance management.
  • Analyse business performance and create action plans to improve results.
  • Work closely with kitchen, front-of-house, housekeeping and hotel teams.
  • Maintain strong standards for rooms, cleanliness, maintenance and guest satisfaction.
  • Support new openings, refurbishments, promotions and business improvement projects.
  • Build relationships with suppliers and ensure cost-effective purchasing.
  • Handle customer complaints and resolve operational issues effectively.
  • Deputise for the Area/Regional Manager when required.
Key skills and experience
  • Experience managing multiple hospitality venues.
  • Strong background in pubs, restaurants, hotels or a combination of these.
  • Commercial understanding of P&L, budgets, labour and cost control.
  • Excellent leadership and people-management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, licensing and health & safety.
  • Ability to work across different sites and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Confident communicator with strong customer-service skills.
  • Able to analyse performance figures and turn them into practical action plans.
  • Flexible to work evenings, weekends and public holidays when required.
