People Lead – Hiddenwell

Inspiring our people. Strengthening our culture. Elevating the employee experience.

Hiddenwell is growing — and we’re looking for an experienced People Lead to help shape the people agenda at Ardencote, while working closely with our Central Support team and travelling between both locations to support our people and business priorities.

We believe great hospitality starts with great people. From the warmth of a welcome to the care shown in every interaction, it’s our teams who bring each destination to life and create experiences that help our guests relax, reconnect and feel good.

That’s why we’re looking for a commercially minded, people-focused HR professional who can inspire leaders, develop talent and create an environment where our people feel supported, engaged and empowered to perform at their best.

The opportunity

Working closely with our senior leadership and operational teams, you’ll lead the People agenda at Ardencote, working with our Central Support team to deliver a consistent, engaging and high-performing employee experience.

You’ll combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, advising leaders across the employee lifecycle, from employee relations and performance management to talent development, engagement and organisational change. You’ll also lead and develop a People Advisor, ensuring a proactive, visible and responsive People service.

This is an opportunity to strengthen our culture, develop our leaders and help Hiddenwell continue to grow.

Lead with purpose. Partner with the business.

You’ll partner with senior leaders and operational managers to understand business priorities, develop practical people plans and support commercial performance.

With sound judgement and an understanding of hospitality operations, you’ll provide trusted, commercially focused advice while ensuring our people strategy translates into meaningful action. You’ll build strong relationships, challenge constructively and help leaders make confident, informed decisions.

Develop people. Build capability.

You’ll coach and develop our People Advisor, setting clear priorities and building their confidence and capability.

You’ll also support managers to strengthen their people management skills, from performance conversations and employee relations to feedback, engagement and development. Working with our wider People and Learning & Development teams, you’ll help identify talent, support succession planning and create opportunities for career progression.

You’ll champion a culture where people feel supported, encouraged to learn and able to build their future within Hiddenwell.

Create a culture where people thrive.

You’ll help bring our values to life, strengthening engagement and creating a positive employee experience. By listening to our teams and using feedback and people data, you’ll identify opportunities to improve how we attract, engage and retain great people.

You’ll support recruitment, onboarding and development while ensuring employee relations matters are handled fairly and consistently. By coaching managers and addressing underlying issues, you’ll help create a workplace where expectations are clear, conversations are open and people feel valued.

Balance care with commercial focus.

You’ll understand that looking after our people and delivering strong business performance go hand in hand.

With sound employment law knowledge and a practical, solutions-focused approach, you’ll balance employee needs with organisational priorities, ensuring people processes are efficient, compliant and consistent.

From performance management and absence to workforce planning and organisational change, you’ll guide leaders through challenges with confidence. You’ll also use people metrics and operational insight to identify trends, manage risk and drive improvements that support both our people and business objectives.

What you’ll bring

You’ll be an experienced People or HR professional with a strong generalist background and a proven ability to partner with senior leaders, influence decision-making and deliver across multiple locations.

You’ll be comfortable moving between strategic conversations and hands-on operational support, with the confidence to challenge when needed and the empathy to understand different perspectives.

Most importantly, you’ll bring:

  • Significant HR/People experience within a generalist, business partnering or operational leadership environment.
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations, employment legislation and effective people management practices.
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders and operational managers to deliver business-focused people solutions.
  • Experience working across multiple sites or locations, maintaining consistency while understanding local needs.
  • The ability to manage, coach and develop another People or HR professional.
  • Strong influencing, coaching and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively.
  • Experience supporting talent management, recruitment, retention, performance and leadership development.
  • The ability to interpret people data, identify trends and translate insight into practical action.
  • Experience supporting organisational change and helping teams navigate change positively.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • A pragmatic, hands-on approach, commercial awareness and the flexibility to work across HCH and Eden Hall.

A CIPD qualification, or equivalent professional experience, would be beneficial, as would experience within hospitality, hotels, spas or another multi-site operational environment.
