General Manager
The Place
Set in the picturesque coastal
village of Plockton, overlooking Loch Carron, the Plockton Inn brings together
Highland hospitality, comfortable accommodation and a welcoming bar and
restaurant. With its colourful waterfront, sheltered harbour and easy access to
Skye and the surrounding Highlands, Plockton attracts visitors from around the
world.
Our accommodation extends across three buildings: six guest bedrooms within the
Inn itself, a further 14 rooms at The Haven and six rooms at Sorley’s House.
Together, these offer a choice of places to stay while keeping the Inn at the
heart of the guest experience for dining, drinks and a warm Highland welcome.
Part of Highland Coast Hotels, the Inn is also a familiar gathering place for the local community. From welcoming guests for a relaxing break to serving local residents and visitors enjoying a meal or drink, our team plays an important part in village life.
This is an opportunity to lead a property with real character, build a strong team and help shape the next chapter of the Plockton Inn.
The Position
As General Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running and commercial performance of the Inn, creating a welcoming environment for guests and a positive, supportive workplace for your team.
You will be a visible, hands-on leader, comfortable moving between departments and setting clear standards through your own approach. Working closely with your regional management and the wider Highland Coast Hotels team, you will balance great hospitality with effective planning, cost control and team development.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading accommodation, food and beverage operations to deliver consistently high standards.
- Recruiting, supporting and developing your team, with clear expectations and regular feedback.
- Managing budgets, payroll, purchasing and stock to achieve financial targets.
- Growing revenue through memorable guest experiences, repeat business and local opportunities.
- Building positive relationships with residents, suppliers and the wider community.
- Maintaining a safe, well-presented and compliant operation.
The Person
You may already be an experienced General Manager looking for a new challenge, or an Operations Manager, Deputy General Manager or similar hospitality leader ready to take your next step.
What matters is your ability to lead people, take ownership and deliver results. You will bring strong operational experience, sound commercial judgement and a practical understanding of how accommodation and food and beverage departments work together.
We’re looking for someone approachable, fair and confident, who communicates clearly and follows through on commitments. You will know how to motivate a team, address challenges constructively and stay calm during a busy service.
Experience in a hotel, inn or hospitality business with a strong food and beverage offering would be particularly valuable. An appreciation of village life and the importance of building trusted local relationships will also help you thrive.
For someone stepping into their first General Manager role, this offers the opportunity to take full responsibility for a property with support from an experienced regional and group team.
The Package
- Salary of £55,000–£65,000 per annum, depending on experience.
- Support from regional management and colleagues across Highland Coast Hotels.
- Opportunities for professional development and career progression.
- The opportunity to make your mark on a characterful inn in a beautiful Highland location.
If you’re ready to bring energy, clear leadership and a passion for hospitality to the Plockton Inn, we’d love to hear from you.
