Night Duty House Manager | Watergate Bay Hotel | 31.5 hours, 4 shifts per week

At Watergate Bay Hotel, we offer unforgettable experiences for our guests.

Set on a stunning two-mile surfing beach on the North Cornwall coast, Watergate Bay Hotel gets to the heart of memorable moments, from active days by the sea to relaxed, cosy stays.

It’s place to slow down, feel at home, and build a rewarding career.

Here, the experience we create for our guests is shaped by a team that values connection, flexibility, and variety, where everyone feels welcome, cared for, and looked after.

Our Night Duty House Manager role

We’re looking for a Night Duty House Manager to take the lead overnight, keeping everything running smoothly whilst making sure every guest feels looked after from check in to check out. It’s a hands-on role, and no two nights are the same.

You’ll be at the heart of the hotel through the night, overseeing operations, completing the night audit, welcoming late arrivals and making early departures feel effortless. Calm, capable and naturally hospitable, you’ll create a warm, seamless and professional experience, whatever the hour.

You’ll support the team, build relationships with guests and jump in wherever needed, helping to keep the hotel safe, welcoming and well cared for all night long. In return, you’ll be part of a supportive team where collaboration and a positive working environment are a given.

This is a full-time role, working 31.5 hours per week consisting of 4 shifts on and 4 shifts off.

As our Night Duty House Manager you’ll be

  • Acting as an ambassador for the hotel at all times, providing a warm, professional and welcoming presence.
  • A visible and reliable presence at the front desk throughout the night, acting as the main point of contact for guest queries and feedback.
  • Handling guest complaints and resolve any issues confidently, ensuring a positive experience throughout the night.
  • Preparing and delivering room service orders as required.
  • Overseeing hotel operations across all departments during your shift, ensuring everything runs smoothly and maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation and service.
  • Overseeing the night cleaning team, ensuring all areas are cleaned to the required standard.
  • Taking responsibility for the cleanliness and presentation of the reception area, including the cleaning and maintenance of the open fires.
  • Preparing room keys and guest information for the following day’s arrivals.
  • Supporting the management team with relevant administration tasks as required.

You’ll also

  • Maintain a safe working environment and lead emergency procedures
  • Work closely with department heads to resolve operational issues
  • Ensure clear communication and handovers between teams
  • Support a seamless guest journey from booking to departure
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements across the hotel
  • Understand our shared responsibility to care for our team and our planet, and the reason we are working towards B Corp accreditation.

The skills you’ll be sharing with us

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience in a management role, ideally within hospitality
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail and a hands-on approach
  • Confidence handling guest feedback and challenges
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A guest-focused mindset and ability to use your initiative
  • First Aid Qualification (desirable)
  • Pool Emergency Response training (desirable)

What we’ll offer you

  • A relaxed, professional workplace in a beautiful coastal setting
  • A supportive and welcoming team
  • Career development opportunities
  • Team rates for you, friends and family at Watergate Bay Hotel, SeaSpace, and Another Place Hotels
  • Discounts across our restaurants, facilities and partner businesses
  • Free surf lessons and equipment hire
  • Team social events throughout the year
  • Team assistance scheme – a dedicated helpline for support & advice on topics from mental health through to managing your finances
