We’re looking for an Assistant Executive Head Housekeeper who brings care, pride and purpose to everything they do and believes that true luxury lies in elevated and effortless hospitality.

This role is about much more than maintaining our beautiful spaces; it’s about honouring The Headland’s heritage, creating a sense of warmth for our guests and colleagues alike and ensuring exceptional and consistent service is delivered across the department.

Working closely with the Executive Head Housekeeper, a key part of this role is to nurture and develop your team by providing clear direction, ongoing support and opportunities for growth while ensuring high standards of performance and collaboration are met.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensuring maximum guest satisfaction in all areas of Housekeeping.
  • You will oversee the full lifecycle of our team members.  This includes recruitment ensuring that we find the right person for our hotel, probation reviews and regular check in meetings.
  • To support the Executive Head Housekeeper in creating and managing team rotas, ensuring they are fair and consistent for all staff members. You will address any queries promptly in the Executive Head Housekeeper's absence and ensure all issues are resolved effectively.
  • To manage the HR EPS system, ensuring that team rotas are signed off within the required timeframes for payroll processing.
  • Maintain all agreed cleaning standards.
  • Alongside The Executive Head Housekeeper you will support with ordering & purchasing of chemicals, consumables and equipment requirements whilst ensuring that the budget is adhered to.
  • Liaise with all relevant department heads and managers to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the housekeeping department, including the overseeing of cottages at times.
  • Monitor closely the condition and maintenance of all accommodation and public areas
  • In conjunction with the Executive Head Housekeeper be responsible for the staff, stock levels, stock taking and control of Linen Room and Laundry
  • Maintain personal contact with guests in dealing with complaints etc.
  • Deputise for the Executive Head Housekeeper in her absence
  • In co-operation with the Executive Head Housekeeper/HR Manager ensure the ‘on the job’ training plan is adhered to and up to date at all times 
  • Assist the Executive Head Housekeeper in dealing with any staff welfare issues within the Housekeeping team
  • You would be expected to segregate waste effectively, including recycling, general waste, food waste, and glass.
  • To understand our collaboration with the National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow and can speak to its importance when appropriate.
  • To respect The Headland’s sustainability goals and maintains awareness of our partnership with EarthCheck.

Requirements and Skills

  • Previous experience in a similar hotel standard is highly desirable but not essential.
  • A genuine passion for cleanliness and a ‘perfectionist’ approach to tasks.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting. Bending and standing for long periods of time.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Exceptional punctuality.
  • An understanding of the importance of guest confidentiality and privacy.
