Description

Hotel June Malibu Outpost is a seeking a dynamic, service-driven Assistant Hotel Manager to join the team at our 13-bungalow property located on the iconic Point Dume in Malibu. The Hotel Manager is responsible for assisting in leading the team in both the development and implementation of property-wide strategies with the objective of meeting or exceeding guest expectations, building relationships with key customers and an involvement in the sales process.

Responsibilities 

  • Oversee the operational functions of the hotel
  • Ensure compliance to five-star luxury guest service standards
  • Hold regular briefings and meetings with all head of departments and hourly colleagues
  • Ensure full compliance to hotel operating controls, SOP’s, policies, procedures and service standards
  • Lead all key property issues including guest service, colleague interactions with each other and management, property maintenance, inventories and ordering
  • Handling complaints and oversee the service recovery procedures
  • Cover shifts as needed if there are call-outs
  • Manage on-going profitability of the hotel, ensuring revenue and guest satisfaction targets are met and exceeded
  • Ensure invoices are relayed to GM to be paid in a timely manner
  • Ensure colleagues are accurately paid and all time worked is accounted for
  • Create schedule for colleagues and managers
  • Ensure all decisions are made in the best interest of the hotels and management
  • Consistently look to develop new procedures and SOPs that improve and enhance the guest experience, increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the staff and offerings to perhaps add to long term costs savings
  • Work in conjunction with the GM to gain an understanding of P&L statements and the ability to react with impactful strategies
  • Closely monitor the hotels business reports on a daily basis and take decisions accordingly
  • Work in conjunction with the Revenue Management team to maximize profitability and availability for the hotel.
  • Assist in the procurement of operating supplies and equipment, and contracting with third-party vendors for essential equipment and services
  • Participate in recruiting and hiring colleagues as needed
  • Coordination with managers and colleagues for the execution of all activities and functions
  • Be accountable for responsibilities of department heads and take ownership of all guest complaints
  • Respond to audits to ensure continual improvement is achieved
  • Corporate client handling and take part in new client acquisition along with the sales team whenever required
  • Responsible for legalization, OSHA, fire regulations and other legal requirements
  • Responsible for posting corresponding paperwork/posters in colleague area
  • Ensure reservations and guests’ billing are accurate
  • Coach and counsel colleagues; deliver ongoing training and provide effective leadership 
  • Oversee outside vendors

Qualifications

  • 10 years’ experience in the guest services, food & beverage or related professional area preferred 
  • Leads by example demonstrating self-confidence, energy and enthusiasm
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit 
  • Computer Proficiency: POS
  • Positive Attitude 
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and detail oriented 
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays when needed 

Education

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Preferably with a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major
