Description

Housekeeping Assistant | Watergate Bay Hotel

We’re here to share the joy of Watergate Bay for everyone, now and for the future.

That means doing everything we can to make sure our team, guests and planet stay happy through the moments we create and the impact we have.

Our Housekeeping Assistant role

As our Housekeeping Assistant, you'll prepare guest rooms and key areas to the highest standards, creating spaces that feel comfortable, welcoming, and genuinely cared for. From fresh linen to thoughtful finishing touches, your work will be at the heart of the Watergate Bay Hotel experience, setting the tone for every guest's stay.

Taking pride in your work, you'll have a thoughtful approach, an eye for detail, and an appreciation for the difference the little things can make. You'll be working independently, supporting the wider housekeeping team as needed, and we'll support you from day one with training and encouragement, helping you build the confidence and skills to thrive in the role.

What we’re looking for

  • Reliability, flexibility, and a willingness to learn
  • A strong customer service mindset and pride in your work
  • The ability to work independently and use your initiative
  • Previous housekeeping experience (preferred but not essential)
  • Excellent attention to detail with high standards
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • A positive, team-focused attitude

Why us?

Set on a spectacular two-mile surfing beach on the North Cornwall coast, Watergate Bay Hotel is a place where guests come to slow down, reconnect, and make lasting memories. Through proper hospitality, active relaxation and thoughtful experiences, we create the time and space for guests and teams to feel their best.

From fresh sea air to cosy corners, everything we do is designed to help people find balance – embracing the outdoors, unwinding deeply, and enjoying each moment. It’s what sets Watergate Bay apart. It’s also why we’re always looking for exceptional people to join us.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Preparing allocated rooms and areas efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Ensuring all guest areas are clean, safe, and inviting at all times.
  • Managing guest laundry and linen with care and attention.
  • Keeping corridors and service areas clean, tidy and clutter-free.
  • Maintaining organised and well-stocked linen cupboards.
  • Following procedures for signing keys in and out.
  • Adhering to all health and safety, manual handling and COSHH regulations (training provided).
  • Working collaboratively as part of a committed, efficient and dynamic team.
  •  Supporting new team members with training and guidance.

We believe attitude and approach are just as important as experience. If you bring care, commitment and a willingness to learn, we’ll support you with the training you need to succeed.

What we can offer in return

  • A relaxed, professional place to work in a beautiful location – at one of the UK’s most striking beaches
  • Excellent career prospects in a growing organisation
  • Discounted hotel stays for you, your friends, and family
  • Exclusive discounts at our restaurants and partner businesses
  • Free surf lessons plus surfboard and wetsuit hire from Wavehunters
  • Regular team social events throughout the year
  • Employee assistance helpline for wellbeing, mental health, and financial support

Our commitment to our team is reflected in a working environment that promotes a work-life balance, development, and genuine connection.

Working at Watergate Bay Hotel isn’t just a job — it’s a chance to help create something that really matters. Now and for generations to come.
