Job description
Job Purpose: The Server is the primary provider of service to the guest during the meal. The Server processes order for food and beverage, delivers meals to the guest, checks back with the guests to ensure satisfaction and processes payment for meals. The Server is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and sanitary environment for the guests in their station and for stacking and setting up the restaurant to meet the needs of the guests.

Job Requirements:

• Six months to one-year previous serving experience in a full service restaurant
• Knowledge of wine, sake, shochu and wine service techniques
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English, in both written and oral forms
• Able to work in a team oriented atmosphere
• Work varied shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays
• Physical ability to access all areas of restaurant
• Must possess a good working knowledge of all restaurant functions
• High school diploma/GED or equivalent
• Able to learn and use POS system
• Must be a customer service/sales oriented individual

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepares the restaurant and server station for guests.
• Greets seated guests, presents menus
• Answers questions and makes suggestions regarding food and beverage orders.
• Participates in Japanese call out
• Actively takes orders, gives enticing suggestions, conducts full and complete food/beverage service, and monitors guests’ dining experience.
• Processes orders through the POS terminal, ensures delivery of all items ordered.
• Prepares necessary side items.
• Delivers drinks from the bar and delivers food from the kitchen and Robata.
• Responds to guests’ requests and anticipates guests’ needs throughout the meal.
• Responds professionally to guests’ comments, complaints and questions.
• Keeps table clear of soiled plates, trash and empty glasses.
• Follows up with diners at critical points during the meal.
• Presents the guest check and receive payment, process credit card transaction
• Offers a parting comment to departing guests.
• Adheres to all applicable laws regarding the sale and service of alcoholic beverages.
• Follows all health, safety, sanitation and security standards.
• Notifies manager on duty of any guests’ concerns.
• Assists in bussing of tables and resetting tables for next seating.
• Maintains detailed knowledge of menu items, as well as beverage lists, including ingredients, presentation and sourcing.
• Attends training sessions and retains knowledge covered within.
• Completes side works before the end of the shift.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
