The Inn & Smuggler's Bar

Our traditional inn and pub provide a lively, fast-paced service environment. Here you'll gain valuable experience delivering consistently high-quality food during busy service periods, preparing guest favourites, seasonal specials, and classic comfort dishes.

Events, Functions & Group Catering

As a destination venue, Jamaica Inn hosts weddings, celebrations, coach tours, private events, and seasonal functions throughout the year. This provides additional experience across larger-scale catering operations and varied styles of service.

Farm Shop Product Development

A unique part of working at Jamaica Inn is the opportunity to contribute to the development and production of products sold through our popular Farm Shop. From preserves and baked goods to seasonal specialities and locally inspired products, our chefs play an important role in creating products that are enjoyed by visitors long after they leave the Inn.

This provides valuable experience in retail food production and product development, allowing chefs to broaden their skills beyond traditional restaurant and pub service.

The Role

As part of our kitchen brigade, you'll play a key role in delivering exceptional food experiences across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing and presenting dishes to consistently high standards
  • Supporting the Head Chef and senior kitchen team
  • Maintaining food hygiene and health & safety standards
  • Assisting with stock control and kitchen organisation
  • Contributing ideas for menu development, daily specials, and Farm Shop products
  • Performing effectively during busy service periods
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a professional kitchen environment
  • Passion for food, hospitality, and guest experience
  • A willingness to learn and develop
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Ambition to progress within a professional kitchen
