KERB is a business that powers other businesses. We focus on the incubation and growth of innovative, independent food businesses, and operate Seven Dials Market - our flagship central London food hall that sees 4,000 visitors eat and drink at our 20 independent food businesses and two (soon to be three!) bars each day.

Role Description
Taking a lead in our core pillar of Exceptional Hospitality, you’ll be supporting the General Manager in all aspects of the day to day running of this business and deputise for them while they are away. You will also be responsible for managing the duty managers who will manage our on site team across service standards, operations, recruitment and H&S You will ensure that Seven Dials Market delivers an incredible guest experience and is a great place for the team to work. This is a fast-paced, people-centric role where you’ll be integral in coaching and developing our people.
Responsibilities
Support and assist the General Manager to ensure the smooth running of the business at all times, including reporting, team development and compliance
Deputise for General Manager when they are away from the business and be the decision maker for the business
Responsible for day-to-day ordering, stock control and management of the senior team and accountability in these areas
Shift leading, opening & closing the venue, drafting and delivering impactful team briefings and handovers, leading the team from the front in shift, and driving high standards and sales through high team energy and morale
Day to day line management responsibility for Duty Managers including weekly 121s clearly communicating expectations, priorities and deliverables (translating these into actions), as well as having developmental conversations such as 6 month check ins, appraisals etc
Lead our team and traders by example, be an ambassador for KERB and Seven Dials Market at all times, you will not be afraid to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in whether that’s jumping on the bar or clearing tables
Be the first point of contact for the team/managers/traders, as well as external contractors and 3rd party suppliers, across all areas of operations day-to-day
Ensure clear communication channels between KERB SDM, KERB HQ support teams, traders, suppliers and all other key stakeholders
Weekly ops flash updating with financial performance figures from the previous week, and reporting on the ops flash to the management team and wider Senior KERB support team
Forecasting sales, labour and other key cost areas including wet stock and consumables
Understanding of operating to budgets, to control costs across the business each week in line with monthly P&L targets
Ownership of team schedules, managing the heads of departments in drafting their team rota’s, in line with forecasts & budget
Support the GM and wider management team in delivering impactful full team meetings, once a month
Responsible for ensuring that Seven Dials Market is legally compliant with H&S, Food Hygiene, fire regulations, licencing laws and sales of goods/trading standards
Requirements & skills
Experience managing hospitality teams in a fast-paced, demanding restaurant, bar or food hall environment - this role would suit a GM from a smaller venue size who is looking for large venue experience or a super strong and ambitious AGM
A well organised manager able to manage own daily workload, manage the team and still be able to deliver on longer term project work
Strong people management skills, working with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver high performing teams who work hard but have a whole lot of fun whilst they’re doing it
Excellent communication skills, confidence with guests, traders, developing long-term relationships
Comfortable managing large teams, in a fast paced and high volume venue
A flexible approach to working hours as the role will require evening and weekend work
First Aid Trained and Food Safety Level 2 qualified
An interest and understanding of London's street food industry and wider food scene
Positive and flexible attitude, with the ability to think laterally and willing to problem-solve
Desired but not essential
