Deputy Childcare Manager

Description

Do you want to experience childcare in a different light? Do you live for the smiles your ideas bring to kids’ and adults’ faces alike? Do you forge bonds quickly and thrive on a varied working day where imagination, play and the wonder of the outdoors take centre stage?

We’re looking for a bright, lively, positive early years professional to help lead our Kids’ Zone family and ensure children who join us have stellar experiences.

We don’t believe in paperwork-based assessments and know the true power of play, indoors and out. If you’re an experienced leader, with the relevant NVQ level 3 childcare qualifications and a likeminded view of what it takes to bring out the best in every child whatever their needs and learning styles, it’s you we’re looking for.

You’ll be a true team player with a love for the outdoors, able to spot the little things that make a difference and see where others need help and advice. You’ll be full of fresh ideas to make each Kids’ Zone session shine, from supporting team development to pre-planning activities, as well as doing ‘in-the-moment planning’ and ‘loose parts’ play.

In return for your energy and commitment, you’ll find yourself in a team with a shared outlook on life where friendship, connection, flexibility, variety and challenge make every working day worthwhile.

What your days could look like:

  • Deputise for the Kids’ Zone manager to ensure a happy, confident, effective Kids’ Zone team delivering sessions which meet Ofsted requirements at all times.
  • Provide quality play sessions for children in the Kids’ Zone aged 6 months – 12 years, through planning and organising fun, active, exciting and age-appropriate activities, both indoors and outside.
  • Understand children’s individual needs and the importance of differing learning styles.
  • Develop good working relationships with parents/carers and other professionals.
  • Supervise and mentor team members in their knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage and all that it involves.
  • Monitor and support team members personal development and training and be on the lookout for how you can ensure the team’s wellbeing.
  • Help with the delivery, monitoring and evaluation of how we do things, running appraisals and supervisions as needed.
  • Make sure children are safe and secure at all times.
  • Complete daily administration tasks as needed.

Job skills & requirements:

  • Full and relevant NVQ level 3 qualification in childcare
  • Experience of leadership and management within an Ofsted registered setting
  • Experience of safeguarding, health and safety, behaviour management and inclusion procedures
  • Proven experience of delivery of childcare and play opportunities
  • Experience of working with children and families, staff team members, other professionals, hotel staff and guests
  • Experience within a beach or forest school setting
  • Good communicator
  • Calm under pressure
  • Energetic team player with positive attitude and outlook

What we can offer in return:

  • A relaxed, professional place to work in a beautiful location – right on the shores of Ullswater
  • Excellent career prospects in an ever-expanding organisation
  • Special rates for you and your friends & family to stay at Another Place and Watergate Bay Hotel
  • Team discounts on treatments in Swim Club
  • Discounts for you and your friends & family to eat at our restaurants: at Rampsbeck, Living Space and Glasshouse
  • Team social events throughout the year
  • Team assistance scheme – a dedicated helpline for support & advice on topics from mental health through to managing your finances

From discounted stays to training and development opportunities, we're all about helping our team achieve their personal and professional goals. Located in 18 acres of Lake District National Park, you'll never be short on inspiration. Working at Another Place isn't just a job - it's a transformative career opportunity.
