Description

Senior Childcare Practitioner

Do you want to experience childcare in a different light? Do you live for the smiles your ideas bring to kids’ and adults’ faces alike? Do you forge bonds quickly and thrive on a varied working day where imagination, play and the wonder of the outdoors take centre stage?

We’re looking for a bright, lively, positive early years professional to help lead our Kids’ Zone family and ensure children who join us have stellar experiences.

We don’t believe in paperwork-based assessments and know the true power of play, indoors and out. If you’re an experienced leader, with the relevant Level 3 Early Years qualifications and a likeminded view of what it takes to bring out the best in every child whatever their needs and learning styles, it’s you we’re looking for.

You’ll be a true team player with a love for the outdoors, able to spot the little things that make a difference and see where others need help and advice. You’ll be full of fresh ideas to make each Kids’ Zone session shine, from supporting team development to pre-planning activities, as well as doing ‘in-the-moment planning’ and ‘loose parts’ play.

In return for your energy and commitment, you’ll find yourself in a team with a shared outlook on life where friendship, connection, flexibility, variety and challenge make every working day worthwhile.

What your days could look like:

  • Assist in the smooth running of the department, ensuring the team are always providing a high quality of care.
  • Oversee the running of the department in the absence of the Childcare Manager and Deputy Manager
  • To work alongside the Kids Management team in the re-development of our facilities and offering.
  • Lead and support the practice of our team, acting as a role model for play-based learning and helping others develop their skills
  • To encourage outdoor play in all seasons
  • Work to meet the diverse needs of children, ensuring they receive appropriate support and opportunities for learning and development.
  • Ensuring that confidential information is securely stored
  • To assist with the hosting of Early Supper, welcoming families and promoting the Kids Zone offering.
  • Manage the babysitting bookings, communicating with guests and adding bookings to RS.
  • Supporting and promoting best practices within legislative requirements, ensuring quality provision is provided through correct ratio’s.
  • Have an active role in the development and review of Key Kids Zone policies
  • To play a key role in safeguarding children and supporting inclusive practices
  • To attend management meetings as required and deliver policy updates to team when necessary.
  • Ensure a safe environment for both team and guests whilst adhering to the company’s health and safety procedures.
  • Play an active role in the development of/review of department risk assessments
  • Document all accidents, first aid and near misses using the online portal.
  • Ensure team are proactive in their daily checks and cleaning schedules.
  • Maintain monthly department fire drills.
  • Communicate effectively with the team and other departments
  • Relay any causes for concern regarding team welfare to the Childcare Manager
  • Provide a sympathetic ear to complaints received and ensure they are dealt with in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Provide detailed handovers to the rest of the Kids Management team when you’ve been Manager on shift, including any guest complaints or maintenance issues.
  • To provide team with constructive feedback and recognise their accomplishments
  • To take an active role in the induction of new team members

Job skills & requirements:

  • Previous supervisor or manager experience within a childcare setting.
  • Proven experience of working with children aged 6 months to 12 years of age
  • A recognised and relevant Level 3 qualification in Early Years
  • Excellent knowledge of child development and the EYFS
  • An enhanced DBS disclosure
  • Knowledge of the Statutory Framework
  • A love for the outdoors and outdoor education
  • Experience in a customer centric role
  • Team player
  • Stong administrative and IT skills
