Working at Tewinbury

Food at Tewinbury

At Tewinbury Farm Hotel we have beautiful event spaces for weddings, private and corporate events with menus to match. Our unique food offering is integral  to the experience for our guests.

We have our own state of the art cookery school and kitchen garden, providing seasonal fruit and vegetables which feature heavily on our menus.

We have a ‘farm to fork’ ethos throughout our menus and go over and above to seek out local suppliers.

“If you are an ambitious chef then Tewinbury Farm is an outstanding place to further your culinary journey. The kitchens are a hive of activity with real opportunities for career progression within events, restaurants, pastry or bakery, working with expert chefs.”

Prep Chef

We are currently seeking to recruit a Prep Chef to join our busy kitchen team. Based primarily in the prep kitchen, this role involves assisting in all areas for mise en place as well as preparing specific dishes.

Prep Chef - What's involved?

  • Food Preparation: Washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, dicing, and portioning vegetables, fruits, meats, and other food items.
  • Ingredient Preparation: Preparing stocks, sauces, and other components for dishes, as well as measuring and mixing ingredients.
  • Station Setup: Setting up workstations with necessary ingredients and equipment according to recipes.
  • Kitchen Maintenance: Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, including cleaning and sanitizing equipment and surfaces, and storing ingredients properly.
  • Basic Cooking Tasks: May include tasks like reducing sauces, parboiling, and preparing simple dishes like salads.
  • Following Instructions: Adhering to recipes and directions from chefs or kitchen managers.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Collaborating with other kitchen staff and communicating effectively.
  • Inventory Management: Assisting with stocking and organizing food storage areas.
  • Waste Disposal: Properly disposing of food waste

Prep Chef – who are we looking for?

  • An experienced chef - previous experience in a similar role would be a distinct advantage.
  • Someone who is flexible in their work – you must enjoy being a “hands-on” member of a team, while we encourage a work life balance, you must be willing to work the hours required of the business and recognise that we are open 365 days a year.
  • Someone who is highly organised and a natural communicator. A people person who enjoys positively impacting on the people you interact with – both customers and other team members.
  • Someone who can be part of creating a team that works hard, supports each other and has fun along the way.

Prep Chef – what's in it for you?

  • Participation in the TipJar tronc system
  • Holiday that accrues with length service
  • Staff discount in the onsite restaurants - 50% for you and up to 3 guests.
  • Meals provided while on duty.
  • Live in options available
  • Uniform provided
  • Regular team get togethers, from our team drinks to our (pretty special!) parties – we know how to have a good time!

If you have the relevant skills and experience for this role and you are looking for a new challenge with a fast paced friendly environment, we would love to hear from you.

Please note that due to our rural location it is recommended that candidates have their own transport.
