Dakota Hotel based in South Queensferry currently have a desirable vacancy available within our Kitchen team where external opportunities are infrequently available and highly sought after. We are seeking a hard-working individual and skilled Chef who has a strong desire to take the next step within their career and would like to join our Kitchen Team in the role of Breakfast Chef. This role is ideal for those who have commitments in the evening as working hours will typically cover our breakfast service until 5pm.

CONTRACT AND PAY RATE 

Earnings are competitivley £14.55 per hour, paid weekly equating to an annual salary of £30,250 (inclusive of the anticipated tronc payment) before overtime. 

This is based on the role carrying a permanent contract of a minimum of 40 hours per week over 4 days. Typical working days will be Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. 

PRIMARY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Be confident in managing and working a busy Breakfast service.   
  • Prepare and cook dishes according to the specification as set out by the Head Chef. This pertains to all menus including a la carte, room service, breakfast, bar food, bar snacks, events, and guest amenities.
  • Carry out prep work for breakfast service as well as setting up assigned section ahead of lunch service before handing over.
  • Carry out prep work throughout any allocated section of the kitchen with the ability to maintain excellent knife skills.
  • Be able to multi-task and work through busy service times.
  • Carry out a full clean down of the kitchen and maintain an immaculate working environment.
  • Be committed to working wholeheartedly as part of the team, effectively communicating with all members of the kitchen and front of house team.
  • A strong understanding and ability to adhere to Health & Safety and Food Hygiene legislation.
  • Display a willingness to learn and support across different areas of the Kitchen.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS 

The successful applicant will have/be: 

  • A minimum of 2 years professional cooking experience in a full-service restaurant as a Breakfast Chef, Demi Chef or Chef de Partie.
  • Willing and able to work all early morning shifts – being a morning person is advantageous!
  • You are often working service singlehandedly and will need to work at pace and keep calm under pressure.
  • Have experience and the ability to carry out food preparation of fish and meats.
  • Demonstrate a passion for quality food and preparation.
  • Previous qualifications in Food Safety are preferred, although training in Health & Safety, Allergens, and Food Hygiene standards and procedures will be given.
  • Be hardworking and a team-player.
  • Be able to be physically active in your role, standing for much of your shift and working at pace.  
  • An enthusiastic individual who will promote our culture of positivity.  
  • Be task oriented with a great pride for the work they do and attention to detail. 
  • Flexible with shift patterns and available around the needs of our business.
