At the iconic Athenaeum of 116 Piccadilly, Mayfair, you’ll be working with us to deliver our famous five-star service while keeping our independent & unique spirit at heart.

We have 162 rooms, including 18 townhouse residences, three meeting spaces, a bar and restaurant, featuring seasonal menus championing the very best local, sustainable produce and a decadent afternoon tea, we’re a lively place to work.  

The role of our Senior Sous Chef is to support, plan and direct all kitchen operations. As the Senior Sous Chef you will be joining at a very exciting time. You will support the day-to-day management of this busy kitchen. You will have a friendly and caring personality, be able to keep calm under pressure, be confident, organised and maintain a hands-on supervisory management approach. You will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, a guest first approach and a real passion for great service delivery. 

Able to work autonomously or as part of a team, you are motivated, encouraging and inspirational with a passion for supporting, developing and coaching others.

Key Responsibilities

  • To support the Executive Chef to lead and develop the Kitchen teams to achieve consistently high standards of food production and delivery that leads to total guest satisfaction, exceeded guests’ expectations, minimised costs and maximum profitability: 
  • To continuously work to strengthen and build the business by managing, and developing the Kitchen team to deliver exceptional food quality to all customers. 
  • To develop and retain the team by providing leadership, training, and coaching through developing an engaging culture that provides motivation and passion to deliver fantastic results. 
  • To work with the Executive Chef to set, monitor and control operating standards in the Kitchen operation to ensure the highest level of operation is always maintained. 
  • To work with the Executive Chef to ensure that sales are maximised to meet targets and all costs, including payroll, are controlled in line with forecasts to maximise profitability.
