We have and exciting opportunity for an Employee Relations Specialist I to join our growing team. The Employee Relations Specialist I is responsible for supporting Supervisor in the day-to-day administration of the Employee Relations Dept. by ensuring employee relations issues and related written record processes are handled and completed in a timely and accurate manner for assigned area(s). The duties include, conducting full investigations, making sound advice to employees and management, maintaining human resource related records, ensuring Company policies and regulations are administered, and administration/coordination of human resources-related programs. Utilizes favorable working relationship with all company employees to foster and promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, and efficiency/effectiveness.

The selected candidate will work remotely from their home office and will travel occasionally to our nearby restaurant locations as necessary.  The selected candidate will need to work one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday).  Bilingual in Spanish is required. 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Provides sound advice to employees and management in response to employee concerns and issues. Assists employees with a variety of HR related matters and concerns by making decisions on what needs to be advised in various situations following the Company’s policies and procedures and by advising the employees.
  • Conducts full investigations independently with an appropriate judgment in various cases and prepare case summary reports with appropriate recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Advises and trains managers and supervisors in best employee relations practices and strategies for managing employee grievances and conflicts
  • Respond to all employee issues concerns at the restaurant level in a timely manner
  • Completes all assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Consistent follow-up with all employee issues and concerns as assigned
  • Completes all filings in timely manner
  • Updates the case management system, Navex – Ethics Point regularly
  • Maintains employee corrective action forms and files on the Company Share Drive
  • Prepares termination packets, including termination letters and collecting final wage calculations from the Payroll Dept.
  • Administers terminations of employment as needed
  • Must be able to identify violations of Company policies, procedures, and guidelines swiftly and accurately
  • Must schedule and conduct investigation meetings and interviews with current employees as requested
  • Assists Employee Relations Manager or Senior HR leadership by creating reports and collecting information to support investigations and litigations of government affiliations and law firms
  • Maintains data entries in multiple excel spread sheets
  • Must be able to effectively communicate Company policies, procedures, and guidelines to a variety of restaurant employees
  • Supports administrations of Company training programs
  • Supports Employee Relations Manager or Senior HR leadership with the developing strong labor/management relations, compliance with internal policies and procedures, including internal complaint processes and State and Federal regulations
  • Ensures Restaurant Managers receive timely notices of HR postings and HR correspondence
  • Assist in researching and auditing HR compliance including forms, labor law posters, and Company policies
  • Files and mails out the documentations of any activities that relate to Human Resources
  • Supports the Operations Department with multiple HR related projects
  • Supports other departments within Human Resources when needed

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Above average ability to use personal computer for the Microsoft Office Suite of Products, data entry in the case management system and excel spreadsheets, and the Company Share Drive
  • Attention to detail and accuracy regarding time and organizational management
  • Requires extensive customer service skills
  • Must be able to exhibit emotional intelligence when working in a variety of situations
  • Must be able to set personal thoughts, feelings, or convictions aside if necessary to ensure the Company goals and objects are met
  • Requires the ability to multi-task and handle stress in a fast-paced working environment
  • Ability to foster and maintain positive working relationships with all levels of management, office staff, and restaurant personnel
  • Ability to apply basic skills relative to office administration
  • Must possess personal qualities related to respect for the rights and confidentiality of others
  • Requires the knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school.
  • Requires two – four years of clerical or administrative experience. College experience, Bachelor’s or Associates degree, is preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Requires knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of Products and ability to learn multiple data entry platforms, including Navex and ADP.
  • Requires the ability to effectively communicate both written and orally.
  • Requires knowledge of spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence/paragraph structure, and formatting.
  • Requires experience working in or training in Human Resources, working with ADP Workforce Now, and using Microsoft Office Suite products on a regular basis.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is required, and/or Japanese preferred but not required.

PAY RANGE: $55,000 - $70,000/yr. DOE.
