We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Human Resources to join our thriving team. As the Director of Human Resources, you will be responsible for the smooth and cost-efficient operation of the human resources functions relating to compliance including personnel rules and regulations, staffing, employee education and training, management development, labor relations, affirmative action, workers compensation, benefits, payroll, and administration to ensure the achievement of organization's goals and objectives.  This position plans, directs, develops, and implements human resource and administration’s strategies and objectives in conjunction with business growth.  They will be responsible for introduction of new systems relating to the department functions, meeting organizational financial objectives, and meeting organizational goals in relation to compliance and human capital development/improvement. 

This role is a hybrid role.  The selected candidate must be able to come to the office in Irvine, CA on in office days and as needed to carry out necessary functions of the role.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Directs and oversees the implementation, administration, and dissemination of information regarding all Human Resources functions including: recordkeeping, employment, labor relations, training, management development, employee benefit programs (workers’ compensation), compensation for exempt, non-exempt personnel, and leave of absence administration, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and Company policies, procedures, and regulations (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, CFRA, PSL, PDL, EEO, ADA, Title VII).
  • Oversees the administration of employee relations issues.
  • Oversees the administration of the Company’s HR Department’s staff and payroll processing personnel to ensure strong labor/management relations, compliance with internal policies and procedures including internal complaint processes and State and Federal regulations.
  • Oversees the creation, maintenance, and distribution of HR reports to appropriate personnel and government agencies (i.e. new hires, terminations, EEO-1, rosters, OSHA, and labor reports)
  • Ensures Company’s compliances with multi-state regulations and partners with the Risk and Safety department to ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Oversees or conducts internal employee harassment or discrimination investigations.
  • Stays current with current state and federal employment laws.
  • Ensure to set effective goals for department members to achieve Company goals.  Conducts performance review of the department members and provide guidance as necessary to support improvement.
  • Oversees Benefits in the administration of benefits and continuous improvement of safety programs and practices to ensure compliance with business and company standards and regulatory agencies (e.g., OSHA, DOT, etc.), in conjunction with Operations to provide a safe and healthy environment for corporate and store employees.
  • Updates Employee Handbooks, HR Policies and Procedures Manual and other HR-related programs.
  • Performs other related and assigned duties by President as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management from four-year College or university; or minimum of 5 – 7 years related Human Resources experience and/or training or PHR or SPHR certification; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience as a Director of Human Resources in a multi-unit, multi-state restaurant company highly desired. 
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Japanese preferred but not required.
  • Strong organizational management and development abilities to draft the organizational structure of the department, including the roles and goals of subordinates.  Trains to grow and develop team members.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations. Writes clearly and informatively, able to interpret and present numerical data effectively.  Maintains confidentiality and listens to others without interrupting.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, identify and solve complex problems by deeply analyzing various factors, including such problems that could affect other departments.
  • Professionalism - Approaches others in a tactful manner; Reacts well under pressure; Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position; Accepts responsibility for own actions; Follows through on commitments.
  • Negotiation and Coordination - Negotiates and coordinates with related department managers or higher position managers, externally negotiates on behalf of the department in charge.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. 

PAY RANGE: $160,000 - $195,000/yr. DOE.
