Sales Assistant – Lifestyle Shop

 Position Purpose                                                                                                                

 As a Sales Assistant, you will be the face of the Petersham Nurseries Shop, working as part of a tight knit team, responsible for providing the highest level of customer service, demonstrating exceptional product knowledge and building quality customer relationships that result in increased sales and repeat business. This posiiton involves working weekends.

• Help maintain the shop, keeping it looking clean and tidy throughout the day. 
• Interact with customers, colleagues and management in a gracious manner. 
• Curious and inquisitive about shop products, using your knowledge in order to best inform our customers.  
• Welcome all shop and site customers in a friendly and approachable way.  
• Serve customers at the till and act as an obvious presence within the shop.  
• Initiate effective up-selling and cross-selling within the shop and other Petersham Nurseries departments.  
• Help achieve or even surpass retail weekly sales targets set by the Manager.  
• Build lasting customer relationships to deliver increased sales and drive repeat business.  
• Able to multi-task and prioritise when needed.  
• Take customer enquiries by phone and handle them efficiently and in a timely manner. 
• Handle logistics for all customer deliveries and liaise with shippers and couriers.  
• Remain accountable to the customers served in order to fulfil orders in a timely and efficient fashion.  
• Take part in daily team briefings, on a daily basis.  
• Is accountable for their actions, follows the procedures in place. 
• Assist and assume the same responsibilities in the garden shop when asked.

Merchandise & Operations 

• Prepare the shop for opening: water dirt floor, raking and sweeping.  
• Dusting and cleaning product throughout the day.  
• Follow the shop display guidelines.  
• Full and accurate till operation and responsible for cash handling procedures.  
• Replenish from stock room as necessary throughout day.  
• Keep stock, stock rooms, till points and fixtures, fittings and merchandise clean and tidy.  
• Ensure all stock is ticketed barcoded and priced.  
• Watering and maintaining all house plants as required. 
• Ensure security and safety procedures are followed.  
• Accurately administrating customer requests, shipping, delivery files and gift vouchers.  
• Liaising with stock control for accurate reporting of stock anomalies, incidents and damages.  
• Work in a safe, respectful way following the company guidelines.
