Description

Watergate Bay Hotel – a place to take your hospitality career to new heights. With a team that values connection, flexibility, variety, and challenge, we're all about making a meaningful impact on our guests holiday. Our three core values - We Care, We Notice, We Change – show what it means to work for a hotel which goes above and beyond for our team and guests. At Watergate Bay, we don't just provide a place for our guests to rest their heads - we create memorable experiences that they'll remember for a lifetime.

Do you love great coffee, seasonal menus and drinks from local suppliers, as well as growing your skills? Are you a team player who serves with warmth and enthusiasm? Do you enjoy ocean views, breaks on the sand, and surfing after work? If so, we want you! Join us and be part of a team that values connection, creativity, and making a positive impact on people's lives.

The role:
At our hotel, we’re looking for a team who are passionate about Cornwall and our local food and drink producers, and are eager to be a part of this county's incredible way of life. As a member of our team, you'll work alongside others who prioritise our guests and support each other.

We seek dynamic individuals who value positive lifestyle choices and excel as food and beverage all-rounders. From crafting exquisite coffee for early risers to mixing cocktails, you'll take pride in every aspect of your role as a waiter, barista, or mixologist.

Joining our team means being part of a community that values excellence, innovation, and kindness in everything we do. Our commitment to our staff is reflected in our exceptional working environment - one that promotes work-life balance, professional development, and plenty of opportunities for growth.

What your days could look like:

  • Welcome guests in a warm, friendly, timely and relaxed yet professional manner
  • Work in all areas of the restaurant
  • Prepare hot and cold drinks
  • Continually build upon company and product knowledge and give input on how we could develop and improve
  • Take part in team tasting sessions to give you an authentic understanding of our menus for answering guest questions and boosting team creativity and rapport
  • Keep the area you’re responsible for clean, tidy and organised
  • Take care of guests’ billing
  • Give new team members a helping hand, and support their training and development
  • Work together, as part of our committed, efficient and dynamic team

Job skills & requirements:

  • Barista, waiting or bar experience – or time working in other people-facing roles in retail or leisure. But it’s also about personality fit and attitude, so we’re happy to offer full training for the right candidates who may have less experience.
  • A team player, with bags of enthusiasm and personality
  • A real energy and passion for everything you do
  • A desire to provide an excellent guest experience
  • A genuine intent to use the latest technology for a smooth ordering and billing process, without compromising guest experience
  • The ability to work smart, and understand that self-belief and hard work will always earn you success

What we can offer in return:

  • A relaxed, professional place to work in a beautiful location – at one of the UK’s most striking beaches
  • A welcoming team of likeminds, eager to support and encourage each other
  • Excellent career prospects in an ever-expanding organisation
  • Special rates for you and your friends and family to stay at the hotel
  • Discounts on treatments in Swim Club
  • Discounts for you and your friends and family at our restaurants: Zacry’s, The Beach Hut, Living Space and Emily Scott restaurants
  • Discount at Cubs coffeeshops
  • Discounts at Shop on the Beach and other partner businesses
  • Free surf lessons, surfboards and wetsuits hire from Wavehunters
  • Team social events throughout the year
  • Team assistance scheme – a dedicated helpline for support & advice on topics from mental health through to managing your finances

From discounted stays to training and development opportunities, we're all about helping our team achieve their personal and professional goals. Located on the sunny, sandy, Cornish coast, you'll never be short on inspiration. Working at Watergate Bay Hotel isn't just a job - it's a transformative career opportunity. Apply now and join us in creating memorable experiences that our guests and team remember for a lifetime.
