Description

About The Leicester Arms

A classic Kent country inn with 11 boutique bedrooms, a private Sidney Room for events, and a food-led restaurant. Rooms feature Nespresso machines, hairdryers, and Brambley toiletries. We deliver an “affordable luxury” stay with calm, spotless rooms and warm, efficient service.

The Role

You’ll keep guest bedrooms and public areas immaculate, turn rooms to a high standard, and respond quickly to guest requests. You’ll work to daily room lists and checklists, coordinate with reception on early check-ins/late check-outs, and report maintenance issues promptly so rooms are always guest-ready.

Key Responsibilities
  • Room turns: Strip and make beds to standard; clean bathrooms to hotel shine; dust, vacuum, mop; restock amenities (Brambley toiletries), teas, coffees, and Nespresso pods; check hairdryers/irons on request.

  • Quality checks: Inspect rooms against the daily checklist before handover; ensure correct room set-ups for families, cots, and special requests.

  • Public areas: Keep entrances, corridors, stairways, landings, and restrooms clean and well-presented throughout the day.

  • Linen & laundry: Sort, count, and bag linen; record usage and shortages; organise returns with suppliers; maintain tidy stores.

  • Stock & ordering: Track par levels for linen, towels, pillows, duvets, toiletries, paper goods, and cleaning products; flag replenishment needs.

  • Maintenance & safety: Report faults (lighting, plumbing, furniture, HVAC) immediately via the venue’s maintenance log; tag out of order where required.

  • Guest service: Handle in-room requests professionally (extra towels, fans, pillows, irons); respect privacy and follow DND procedures.

  • Compliance: Use chemicals safely to COSHH standards; follow colour-coding, PPE, sharps/broken glass and biohazard procedures; record incidents.

  • Handover & systems: Work from the daily rooms board / PMS lists (e.g. eviivo) and attend quick morning briefings for priorities and VIPs.

  • Events support: Assist with light set/clear for the Sidney Room (linen, glassware wipe-downs, chairs), when needed.

What You’ll Bring
  • Proven housekeeping experience in a hotel, inn, or quality hospitality venue.

  • High personal standards, great eye for detail, and pride in presentation.

  • Good time management; able to hit daily room targets without cutting corners.

  • Clear communication with reception and management; reliable and punctual.

  • Understanding of COSHH, manual handling and safe systems of work (training provided).

Nice to Have
  • Basic maintenance know-how (e.g. resetting a tripped fuse, tightening a loose hinge).

  • Familiarity with luxury touches for feature rooms/suites.

Working Patterns
  • Typical shifts between 8:00 and 16:30; weekend and bank-holiday rotation shared fairly.

  • Occasional evening refresh turns for high occupancy or events.

What We Offer
  • Team meals on duty and staff discounts across Little & Large Pub Company venues.

  • Opportunities to progress within the group.
