Sous Chef – The Leicester Arms, Penshurst
The Leicester Arms is a historic country inn in the heart of Penshurst, combining character and charm with modern hospitality. We pride ourselves on delivering fresh, seasonal, and creative dishes that showcase the best local produce. With an ambitious kitchen team and exciting plans for growth, we’re now looking for a talented Sous Chef to join us.
About the role:
As Sous Chef, you’ll be the right hand to our Head Chef, playing a vital part in both the daily running of the kitchen and shaping the menu. You’ll be hands-on in service, lead by example, and ensure consistency, creativity, and high standards across every plate that leaves the pass.
Responsibilities include:
Supporting the Head Chef in menu development and specials
Running shifts and managing the kitchen team in their absence
Maintaining excellent food safety and hygiene standards
Training and developing junior chefs
Helping manage stock, ordering, and GP targets
About you:
Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong Junior Sous ready to step up
Passion for seasonal and locally sourced food
Calm, organised, and able to thrive in a busy service
A team player who leads with positivity and professionalism
Strong knowledge of kitchen operations and compliance
