WHY SECOND NATURE
Care, made daily.

Second Nature is part of Lamington Group. Hometel is a word Lamington Group created and owns. We design and run hometels, places that are practical but still feel good to stay in, built around how people actually travel and live. Feeling properly looked after matters too, so our teams pay attention to what guests actually need, not what a script tells them to do.

We’re looking for people who care about the work in front of them and the people around them. If that sounds like you, keep reading.

THE ROLE
What's the role about?

You're a Night Host at Second Nature. When the building goes quiet, you're the one keeping it safe, secure and welcoming. A late arrival after a delayed flight, or a guest who can't sleep at 3am: you're the friendly face they find.

You're part hospitality, part peace of mind. You welcome late arrivals, look after guests through the night, keep an eye on the building, and work alongside housekeeping and the Night Manager. You're trusted to use your judgement: you sort out what you can and know when to escalate.

You're an essential part of our night team. Your calm presence is what lets guests sleep soundly, and it's why the morning team walks into a building that's ready for the day.

WHO YOU ARE
Five things we hire for.

These are the Second Nature values. We use them across every role in the Group, from Maintenance to Front of House to the kitchens. If three or more of these sound like you on a good day, this is your kind of place.

  • Use Instinct. A guest comes down at 2am, flustered and locked out. You hear the stress in their voice, slow things down, and sort it out with a smile. You notice a room that looks stretched and make sure the morning team knows.

  • Own It. You don't wait to be asked. You spot a dripping tap, a flickering light or a door that won't close properly, and you log it before your shift ends. If a guest needs something, you make it happen.

  • Include All. Every guest gets the same warm welcome at midnight as they would at midday, whoever they are and however late they arrive. You keep in touch with the rest of the night team so nobody feels alone on shift.

  • Stay Curious. You wonder why the same alarm keeps going off on Tuesday nights, or why guests keep asking for the same thing at 1am, and you share ideas to fix it. You still keep your eyes on what's happening right now.

  • Think Big. The hours when the world is asleep are when trust gets built. A guest who felt looked after at 4am is a guest who comes back.

We don't hire for a big hotel name on your CV. We can teach you the systems. We can't teach you how to read a room.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
On a good day, you might…

  • Welcome late arrivals and look after early departures, so check-in and check-out feel easy at any hour.

  • Respond quickly and kindly to guest requests and room issues through the night.

  • Walk the building regularly, checking common areas, corridors and entrances.

  • Monitor CCTV and security systems, make sure doors and windows are secure, and respond calmly to alarms.

  • Report maintenance issues straight away, especially anything safety-related.

  • Help housekeeping with urgent room needs and support the rest of the night team.

  • Keep clear, accurate records of the night's activity and any incidents.

  • Give the morning team a clear handover, so nothing falls through the cracks.

  • Know emergency procedures well enough to guide guests calmly and confidently if needed.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Experience that fits the role.

  • Some experience in hospitality, front of house, night work, security or a similar guest-facing role. A big hotel name on your CV isn't required.

  • A warm, welcoming manner, even at 3am.

  • Comfort working on your own during quiet hours, while knowing when to call for backup.

  • An alert, observant nature, so you notice when something isn't quite right.

  • Confidence with monitoring systems and basic security procedures, or a willingness to learn.

  • A calm, professional approach when the unexpected happens.

  • Happy to work nights on a regular basis.

WHAT YOU'LL LOVE WORKING HERE
What you get back.

  • A team that means it. You'll work with people who know the building runs safely because of you. Leaders are hands-on and check in regularly on how you're doing and where you want to go.

  • Growth that's real. We build from within. Your path might lead to Night Manager, Front of House or wider roles across the business.

  • Learning, built in. Proper training from day one, plus safety and guest-care skills that go with you wherever you go next.

  • Time off that respects you. More annual leave the longer you stay, company benefits, two paid volunteer days a year, and a Company Sick Pay Scheme.

  • Stay with us, on us. Friends-and-family rates across our hometels and the wider group, plus one free stay on us.

  • The day-to-day. Pension contributions, wellbeing support, a Cycle to Work scheme, and gym access at our properties.

HOW IT WORKS
Our hiring process.

We keep it short, honest and human.

  1. Apply. Send your CV and a few lines on why this role caught your eye. No cover letter needed; we'd rather hear from you directly.

  2. First conversation. A 30-minute call with the hiring manager about the role, the team and you.

  3. On-site visit. Meet the team and see the building. You should know what you're signing up for before you say yes.

  4. Offer. If it's a fit on both sides, we move quickly.

WE CLOSE THE LOOP
Every applicant hears back from us, yes or no. We don't ghost.

FOR EVERYONE
A note on inclusion.

Second Nature and Lamington Group are equal opportunities employers. We hire on attitude and ability. We welcome applications from every background, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion or belief.

If you need any adjustments to take part in our hiring process, tell us when you apply. We'll work with you.
