WHY SECOND NATURE
Care, made daily
Second Nature is part of Lamington Group. Hometel is a term created and owned by Lamington Group. We design and operate hometels, we combine practicality with feeling. It responds to how people actually travel and live. We also recognise the importance of the sense of being properly looked after.
A team that pays attention to what guests actually need, not what a script tells us they should.
We are looking for people who care about the work in front of them and the people around them.
If that sounds like you, keep reading.
THE ROLE
What's the role about?
You are the Cluster Sales Manager for Second Nature York and Leeds, reporting to the General Manager with a dotted line to the Group Director of Sales. You are our commercial lead in both cities. Every corporate account you land, every group you close and every extended-stay relationship you build is yours.
You combine real commercial savvy with the kind of relationship-building that keeps clients coming back. You join before the doors open. Second Nature York launches in May 2027 and Leeds follows in early 2028. Both are among the UK's strongest and fastest-growing corporate markets, and nobody there knows our name yet.
You'll change that. The commercial foundations you lay in your first year will shape how both properties perform for years to come. Your days mix strategy with hands-on relationships. You find and win new corporate business, negotiate rate agreements, grow group and extended-stay business, and work closely with Revenue and Operations so we deliver everything you've promised.
You're part of a national sales team, so you're never doing this alone. But in Yorkshire, you're the face of Second Nature.
WHO YOU ARE
Five things we hire for.
These are the Second Nature Values. We use them across every role in the Group, from Maintenance to Front of House to the kitchens. If three or more of these read like you on a good day, this is your kind of place.
Use Instinct.
You hear what a client means, not just what they say, and shape a proposal that solves their real problem. Your feel for the right account is sharper than your CRM.
Own It.
Your targets and your pipeline are yours. You don't blame the market for a miss. You chase the next relationship, close with confidence, and ask the team for help when you need it. York and Leeds are your cities, and you make them work.
Include All.
You build trust with clients by listening and being straight with them. You bring Revenue and Operations in early, so the stay lives up to what you sold.
Stay Curious.
You learn how different industries buy and who signs off. You stay sharp on market trends and local intelligence, but you never let research get in the way of closing.
Think Big.
You see new partnerships and markets worth chasing across both cities. You push past today's client list to grow the business, grounded in what the team can actually deliver.
We don't hire just for years on a CV. We can teach you our systems. We can't teach you how to read a room.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
On a good day, you might…
• Lead all local sales activity for York from day one, building corporate, extended-stay and group pipelines ahead of the May 2027 launch.
• Get Second Nature known across both cities through networking events, corporate visits and introductory meetings.
• Help shape pre-opening commercial decisions alongside the Group Director of Sales and the revenue team.
• Lay the groundwork for Leeds well ahead of its early 2028 opening, then split your time between both properties as the launch gets closer.
• Prospect and win new business across corporate transient, groups, extended stay and small MICE, tracking every RFP, quote and negotiation with care and good timing.
• Negotiate corporate contracts and rate agreements that win the account and protect the margin.
• Build relationships from scratch with local businesses, travel management companies, relocation agents and group organisers who've never heard of Second Nature.
• Get to know your key accounts' business inside out, tailor what we offer, and run regular reviews to keep and grow them.
• Source and convert leisure, touring group and small meeting enquiries, working with Operations to make delivery seamless.
• Keep an eye on competitors and the market, read the yield, occupancy and revenue numbers, and make data-led recommendations on pricing and packages.
• Keep the CRM accurate and report regularly on performance, pipeline and what you're seeing in the market.
• Represent Second Nature locally and nationally, from client entertainment and trade shows to site visits and property tours.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Experience that fits the role.
• 4+ years in hotel or aparthotel sales with a B2B or corporate focus, and a proven record in new business development and corporate account management.
• Experience supporting or delivering a hotel or property opening, or a clear appetite for one.
• Strong knowledge of the Yorkshire market, particularly the Leeds corporate landscape. These are new markets for Second Nature, so local experience is essential.
• Confidence with RFPs, GDS and CRM systems, and a sharp commercial head in a negotiation.
• Self-motivated and results-driven, and comfortable building something new.
• Comfortable with digital tools and open to AI-native ways of working. We use technology to work smarter and expect the same from our team.
• Able to commute to both York and Leeds. This is an on-property role: four days a week on site with one flexible day.
• Desirable: familiarity with extended stay and long stay (SABA and agent networks, corporate housing), MICE or group contracting experience, and existing relationships with Leeds or York corporates, TMCs or relocation agents.
WHY YOU'LL LOVE WORKING HERE
What you get back.
• A team that means it. You'll work alongside a national sales team and leaders who are present, supportive and hands-on, not just names on an organisation chart. Regular check-ins focus on your development, ideas, and where you want to go next.
• Growth that's real. We believe in promoting from within. Whether your path leads to Director of Sales or wider commercial roles across the Group, we create opportunities for people who want to grow.
• Learning, built in. You'll receive structured onboarding from day one, plus something most sales careers never offer: the chance to launch a brand in two new cities.
• Time off that respects you. We know life exists outside of work. Additional annual leave that grows with length of service, company benefits, two paid volunteer days each year, and a Company Sick Pay Scheme, in addition to time to recharge. All part of creating a sustainable working environment.
• Stay with us, on us. Access friends-and-family rates across our hometels and wider group properties. Experience the spaces you help create and see the brand through a guest's eyes. And have one free stay, on us!
• The day-to-day. Competitive benefits package including pension contributions, team support, wellbeing initiatives, Cycle to work scheme and use of gym facilities in our hotels, and the everyday essentials that help make work feel rewarding, not just routine.
HOW IT WORKS
Our hiring process.
We try to keep it short, honest, and human.
• 1. Apply. Send us your CV and a few lines on why this role caught your eye. A formal cover letter is not required, we'd rather hear you.
• 2. First conversation. A 30-minute call with the hiring manager. We talk about the role, the team, and you.
• 3. On-site visit. Meet the team. See where we're building. We want you to know what you're signing up for before you say yes.
• 4. Offer. If it's a fit on both sides, we move quickly.
WE CLOSE THE LOOP
Every applicant hears back from us, yes or no. We don't ghost.
FOR EVERYONE
A note on inclusion.
Second Nature and Lamington Group are an equal opportunities employer. We hire based on attitude and ability.
We welcome applications from every background, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion or belief.
If you need any adjustments to take part in our hiring process, tell us when you apply. We'll work with you.
