The Kitchen Porter is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, ensuring all areas meet hygiene and safety standards. They provide vital support to chefs and kitchen staff by cleaning equipment, utensils, and work areas, and assisting with basic food preparation when required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Wash and sanitise all kitchen utensils, dishes, pots, pans, and equipment.

  • Keep kitchen floors, surfaces, and storage areas clean and organised.

  • Empty bins, manage waste, and ensure correct disposal following recycling and hygiene procedures.

  • Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.

  • Maintain cleaning schedules and ensure all cleaning tasks are completed to a high standard.

  • Check and restock cleaning supplies and assist with deliveries by unloading and storing goods.

  • Follow all food hygiene, health, and safety regulations at all times.

  • Report any maintenance issues or equipment faults to the Head Chef or Kitchen Manager.

  • Support kitchen staff during busy periods and help ensure smooth service.

  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure.

  • Good teamwork and communication skills.

  • Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene and safety standards.

  • Physical stamina and ability to work on your feet for extended periods.

  • 1 years of Kitchen experience.
  • High volume kitchen operation experience.
  • Experience working in large teams as well as independently.

  • Positive, ‘Can do’ attitude, picking up any additional responsibilities to help the wider team.
  • A keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to think on your feet and adapt.
