Description

RADIANT PEOPLE & LEADERSHIP · RPL INC. In-House Maintenance Technician Full-Time · Two Locations, Los Angeles CA · Bilingual Preferred (EN/ES) · Growth Role

About the Role

Radiant People & Leadership (RPL Inc.) operates two McDonald's locations in the Los Angeles, CA area. We are hiring our first in-house Maintenance Technician — a foundational role for someone who wants to build a long-term career in facilities management within a growing restaurant operation.

This is a preventative-first, hands-on position. You will own scheduled maintenance across all kitchen and beverage equipment at both locations, catch problems before they become costly service calls, and serve as the go-to maintenance resource for our teams. We are not looking for someone who only responds when things break — we are looking for someone who takes pride in restaurants that never go down.

All supplier-led equipment training will be paid for by RPL. No prior McDonald's equipment experience is required — we invest in your development from day one.

What You'll Do

  • Execute scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) routines across all kitchen and beverage equipment at both locations
  • Diagnose and resolve basic electrical, HVAC, and mechanical issues before they escalate to outside service calls
  • Maintain accurate equipment logs, service records, and maintenance histories
  • Interface with supplier technicians and support warranty service claims
  • Monitor and maintain HVAC systems, ice machines, walk-in coolers, and temperature-sensitive equipment
  • Serve as first point of contact for maintenance issues across both restaurants

Equipment You'll Work With

Training on all McDonald's-specific equipment is provided and paid for by RPL.

Kitchen Production:

  • Garland Grills (MWG-9501 / MWG2W-1)
  • Frymaster Gas Fryers (BIG L 30 / BIGLA 430-2RCSD)
  • Antunes Toasters (MT 12RD / CTX-200L)
  • Wells Pie & Cookie Ovens (M4200)
  • Moffat Holding Cabinets (HP10T)
  • Qing Oven Microwaves (MC23MPW2 / MC23MPW3)
  • Prince Castle Bun Steamers (625 Series)
  • Franke Fry Dispensers (F3D3)

Beverage & Cold Systems:

  • Cornelius ABS 2.0 Soda Systems
  • Manitowoc Ice Machines (IBT1020C-161)
  • Taylor Soft Serve Machines (C602)
  • Franke McCafe Machines (FM850 / SB1200)
  • Multiplex Frappe / Blended Ice Machines
  • BUNN Coffee Brewers (Axiom RFID / ITCB)
  • Cornelius Slushie Machines (Viper E3)
  • OJ & Creamer Dispensers

Requirements

Required:

  • Foundational knowledge of electrical systems — wiring, circuits, basic diagnostics
  • HVAC or mechanical maintenance experience (vocational training, trade school, or on-the-job)
  • Ability to work across both Whittier-area locations as needed
  • Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a commercial kitchen environment
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in quality, consistent work
  • Motivated self-starter with a genuine interest in growing within the role

Strongly Preferred:

  • Bilingual — English and Spanish (spoken and written)
  • Prior experience in a food service or commercial kitchen environment
  • EPA 608 certification, or willingness to obtain it (exam reimbursed by RPL)
  • Comfort with basic digital tools for logging and documentation
  • Experience with commercial refrigeration or beverage systems
  • Background in a trade apprenticeship or vocational program

Compensation

Pay is structured to grow with your skills, certifications, and scope of responsibility. We conduct a formal performance review at 6 months — not just annually — so high performers see real movement quickly.

  • Starting Rate: $22–$26/hr — At hire, based on experience
  • 6-Month Review: +$1–$2/hr — Triggered by demonstrated PM ownership and reliability
  • Year 1 + EPA 608 Certification: $27–$29/hr — Cert obtained, both locations running smoothly
  • Senior Technician: $29–$32/hr — Full PM ownership, training others
  • Facilities Manager: $55,000–$70,000/yr — Multi-location scope, possible direct reports

Note: The Facilities Manager role is an internal promotion target as RPL continues to grow. This position is the direct on-ramp to that role.

What We Offer

  • Company-paid equipment training — supplier-led, hands-on training for every major system in our kitchens
  • EPA 608 exam reimbursement upon passing
  • Clear path to Facilities Manager as RPL scales to additional locations
  • 6-month performance reviews with milestone-based pay increases
  • People-first culture — we invest in the people who invest in us
  • Stability and the resources of the world's largest restaurant brand behind you

Career Path

RPL is actively scaling. As we open additional McDonald's locations, a dedicated Facilities Manager role will be filled from within.

  • Year 1: Learn both locations, complete supplier training, build PM systems
  • Year 2: Own all PM schedules, lead vendor relationships, begin onboarding others
  • Year 2–3: Facilities Manager — lead facilities across an expanding RPL portfolio

Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. Los Angeles, CA area preferred.
