Job Title: Bakery Assistant

 

Position Job Summary:

 

Assist bakers and prep cooks in their daily production while maintaining a clean and sanitary work space. Prepare work areas, set up ingredients, and portion batters and doughs as needed. Upholds the core values of the organization and its mission while consistently presenting and promoting brand integrity and product quality. Entry level position, ideal for those looking to gain bakery experience.

 

Reports to: Production Supervisors, Production Managers

 

Principal Duties:

•       Prepare workstations for daily production, this may include staging cake/cupcake pans and ingredients.

•       Scooping batters and cookie dough.

•       Properly organize and store finished baked goods in their designated areas.

•       Ensure all baked goods reflect the highest standards of quality, consistency, aesthetics, and taste.

•       Demonstrate safe food handling practices and follow safety procedures for using equipment and cleaning supplies.

•       Operate and monitor proper functioning of equipment. Must follow safety procedures for using equipment; sanitize work area during and after use.

 

Physical demands and work environment:

•       Position requires standing and walking for period of 3-5 hours without a rest break.

•       Moderate to heavy lifting and carrying, bending and reaching overhead may be required.

•       Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.

•       Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with coworkers and management.

•       Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.

•       Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.

 

 Requirements:

•       Professional kitchen experience preferred, but not required.

•       Flexible availability

•       Hands-on and highly responsive with good decision-making skills.

•       High energy, positive person who wants to gain bakery experience.

•       Able to work as a team with a diverse group of people.

•       Follows all policies and procedures.

•       Takes direction and constructive criticism well, will ask questions if need be.

•       Understands expectations of role and works within the boundaries of the role.

•       Organized with good time management skills.

•       Hours of work are approximately 40 hours per week.

•       Food sanitation, teamwork, dependability and strong verbal and written communication.
