Description

Position Job Summary:

Magnolia Bakery is hiring full-time associates to join our growing production team based in Long Island City. The Machine Operator will run production equipment ensuring quality, yields, safety measures and production demands are met. The ideal candidate is a team player; driven, highly focused with critical thinking.

Reports to: Production Manager, Director of Bakery Operations

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in bakery production or other related fields.
  • Familiarity with food production equipment preferred.

Principal Duties:

  • Reading, interpreting, and following the daily production schedule.
  • Operating all designated equipment according to SOP’s, as well as performing general repairs and preventive maintenance as needed.
  • Ensuring proper equipment setup pre- and post-production.
  • Document production yields, process adjustments and equipment matters on daily production logs.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, work with Production Manager for resolution if needed.
  • Ensuring proper cleaning/sanitation of tools and equipment.
  • Follow through quality and safety checkpoints according to company guidelines, in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Working as a team with fellow line members to ensure production efficiencies are met ensuring all finished products reflect the highest standards of quality, aesthetics, and taste.

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Standing for 8 hours.
  • Can lift up to 50lbs.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with coworkers and management.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
  • Able to work in 60F temperatures if needed.

Requirements:

  • High energy, positive, highly responsive with good decision-making skills. 
  • Able to work as a team with a diverse group of people.
  • Follows all policies and procedures; takes direction and constructive criticism well, will ask questions as necessary. Understands expectations of role and works within the boundaries of the role.
  • Organized with good time management skills.
  • Hours of work are approximately 40 hours per week.
  • Food sanitation, teamwork, dependability and strong verbal and written communication.
