About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Chief Engineer to lead all aspects of engineering, maintenance, compliance, and safety across the hotel. The successful candidate will ensure the efficient operation of all building systems, drive preventative maintenance programmes, manage engineering teams, and support an exceptional guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead all engineering and maintenance operations, identifying improvement opportunities and ensuring the safe, efficient operation of hotel facilities and equipment.
  2. Ensure full compliance with all legal, technical, environmental, HACCP, health and safety, and regulatory requirements.
  3. Manage and coordinate the Preventative Maintenance Plan, ensuring all maintenance activities are completed effectively and on schedule.
  4. Act as a key health and safety leader, supporting risk assessments, emergency preparedness, evacuation procedures, and workplace safety initiatives.
  5. Investigate and resolve technical incidents, coordinating with internal stakeholders and external contractors where required.
  6. Manage engineering budgets and departmental costs, monitoring expenditure, maximising efficiencies, and supporting financial performance targets.
  7. Oversee approved engineering projects and minor capital works, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
  8. Lead, develop and engage the engineering team, including recruitment, training, performance management, workforce planning, and succession development.
  9. Support an outstanding guest experience by maintaining hotel standards, responding promptly to maintenance issues, and minimising operational disruption.
  10. Drive sustainability initiatives, ensuring accurate reporting and effective management of energy and water consumption across the property.

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience in a senior engineering or maintenance leadership role, preferably within hospitality.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, statutory compliance, health and safety regulations, and preventative maintenance.
  • Experience managing budgets, contractors, and engineering projects.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • A hands-on approach with a commitment to operational excellence, guest satisfaction, and sustainability.
