Job Title: Maintenance Technician 

Department: Venue Leadership Team  

Location: THE CUBE Chicago 


Position Summary: 

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the overall upkeep, functionality, and presentation of the venue. This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced entertainment and hospitality environment, requiring flexibility and responsiveness to address last-minute operational issues. The Technician will support all areas of the venue to ensure a safe, fully operational, and guest-ready environment at all times. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Perform day-to-day maintenance and general repairs throughout the venue. 
  • Respond quickly to operational issues, troubleshooting and resolving maintenance concerns in real time to minimize disruption to guest experience. 
  • Support all building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, AV elements, and general facilities infrastructure. 
  • Conduct preventative maintenance across all areas of the venue to ensure equipment longevity and operational efficiency. 
  • Maintain the venue to high presentation standards, including painting, decorating, and general cosmetic upkeep. 
  • Coordinate with building management and shared-space teams to ensure access, compliance, and smooth operations. 
  • Work with approved vendors and contractors when specialized services are required. 
  • Set up, supervise, and manage contractors on-site as needed. 
  • Partner closely with operations, kitchen, bar, and cleaning teams to proactively address maintenance needs. 
  • Monitor and manage maintenance supplies and tools. 
  • Assist with maintaining maintenance budgets and controlling costs where possible. 
  • Ensure all work is completed in compliance with health and safety standards and company policies. 
  • Ensure compliance with all local building codes and safety regulations. 
  • Support new installations, repairs, upgrades, and venue improvements as required. 
  • Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support the overall operation of the venue. 

Other Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain a safe environment for guests and team members. 
  • Identify potential hazards and take corrective action. 
  • Support and follow all company health and safety procedures. 

 

Skills: 

Technical  

  • Experience in a maintenance, facilities, or general building services role, preferably within entertainment, hospitality, or leisure environments. 
  • Strong hands-on skills across multiple trades, including basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general repairs. 
  • Experience working with contractors and external vendors. 
  • Good understanding of health and safety practices. 
  • Comfortable using technology and basic Microsoft Office applications. 

Personal  

  • Flexible availability, including late nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the business. 
  • High attention to detail and pride in maintaining a well-presented environment. 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy venue where priorities may shift quickly. 
  • Proactive problem-solver with the ability to work independently and make sound decisions. 
  • Physically able to stand or walk for extended periods, climb stairs and ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds. 
  • Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across departments.
