OVERVIEW OF ROLE

The role of the Bar Manager is to successfully support the Bar Director with creating one of London’s most iconic bar programmes across all bars within the NoMad London. The primary responsibility will be to ensure smooth running of the day-to-day operation whilst supporting the bar team to create a memorable guest experience for all guests and employees who interact with the bars. Effective understanding of how to manage the bar including Bar pop-ups across the hotel; support Events with bar needs; and mentor all team members to ensure the highest standards and quality of service.

The Bar Manager  is expected to:

  • Always adhere to company policies and procedures, including but not limited to Health & Safety policies, HR guidelines and compliance trainings.
  • As a leader, demonstration of flexibility, visibility and strong leadership are vital.
  • Effectively manage workload and responsibilities with efficiency.
  • Foster clear and effective communication within the team, across departments and between both hotels and management.
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills to guide and inspire the team.
  • Champion our company values and foster a positive and collaborative approach across all departments. 
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The main responsibilities of the Bar Manager are summarised below, the list is not exhaustive:

  • Leading the team of skilled bartenders and barbacks to ensuring sound knowledge of all aspects of the bar, keeping the highest standards and quality of service.
  • Act as a mentor to the Assistant Bar Manager; delegating duties and tasks to meet objectives and maximise resources across the bar spaces.
  • Creating rotas and aiding with ensuring all events that require bartenders are fully staffed.
  • Assist the Bar Director with completing administrative tasks including performance reviews; training manuals; stock control etc.
  • Assess the development needs of the team and proactively support upskilling to continue career progression across the department.
  • Oversee and practice compliance with fire, health & safety, and hygiene standards and regulations.
  • Be a role model for the team by always exhibiting The NoMad Values and behaviours.
  • Assist the Bar Director to setup tastings with distributors to buy new products; and actively seeking to maximise savings where possible.
  • Fostering relationships both internally and externally with contractors and suppliers.
  • Responsible for ensuring Stock Check is completed on time and frequently checking stock is correctly rotated and stored properly to reduce wastage
  • Oversee all production of products for the bar and
  • Successfully run the operations, both during events and the daily operation, maximising revenue where possible.
  • Being the point of contact during service for any guest complaints; seeking the “yes” where possible and informing Security should situations escalate. 
  • Assist the Bar Director with setting up promotional activities and assisting with the executive of photoshoots and any press demands.
  • Working in conjunction with the Dining Room Floor Managers (DRFM) to ensure the smooth operation between bar and wider restaurant.
  • Maintaining excellent knowledge within the beverage industry by staying up-to-date with latest trends within the industry; representing the hotel and bars when attending any industry events or networking opportunities.
  • Assisting the Bar Director to ensure cost control across the bars; optimising revenue where possible whilst not compromising the high standards of service.
  • Remain calm during busy services, ensuring the team feel fully supported throughout service
  • Follow opening and closing procedures for all bar areas to guarantee bars are fully setup for service; and broken down correctly, following hygiene standards.
