Description

Welcome to Kentucky Fried Chicken. Our world famous chicken restaurant brand all started with one cook, Colonel Harland Sanders, who created a finger lickin’ good recipe more than 75 years ago, a list of secret herbs and spices scratched out on the back of the door to his kitchen. He started travelling by car to different restaurants and cooked his fried chicken on the spot for restaurant owners. He did this at the age of 65. If the owner liked the chicken, they would enter into a handshake agreement to sell the Colonel’s chicken. Legend has it that Colonel Sanders heard 1009 “No’s” before he heard his first yes. The Colonel’s story still inspires us today. It reminds us how grit, perseverance, dedication and ambition along with hard work can create success; regardless of your age or where you come from.

Our purpose as an employer is to empower our people to find their own secret recipe in life too.

ABOUT THE ROLE

KFC are on the lookout for a brilliant Community Executive (and real-life chicken connoisseur!) to join our award-winning Social Media Team, part of the wider Marketing team at KFC.

Social Media ‘Gurus’ or ‘Rockstars’ need not apply. We’re looking for someone who genuinely gets the space and understands the way it works. We want KFC to be embedded in culture naturally and in an authentic and credible way, not by forcing our way into people’s newsfeeds.

You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day running of the KFC UK&I Twitter account, building our tone of voice and brand personality to celebrate our fans and their love for KFC. But this shouldn’t be one-way. We’re after someone with strong community management skills, who instinctively knows how to respond to social posts in the most positive way, who can keep the conversation going and keep our followers entertained. Oh, and our competitors can sometimes love a bit of banter, so be ready for that too

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing the KFC UKI Twitter channel on a full-time basis. Responsible for positive and proactive messages.
  • Providing community management across both organic and paid social activity.
  • Supporting key social media campaigns and activations aligned to wider marketing objectives.
  • Managing the content calendar – planning, scheduling, copy-writing and coordinating the various partners that our content comes from.
  • Supporting other channels where required including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube and TikTok to foster and grow communities.
  • Always being on the lookout for proactive opportunities for us to react to.
  • Work with the Social Media Manager and the media agency to plan and manage large media spends.
  • Work with our Brand Managers and Agencies to produce content to support campaigns and product launches.
  • Work with our in-house creative team to produce content / reactive imagery etc.
  • Engage with the Customer Care Team where necessary to help respond to issues in the KFC tone of voice.
  • Building reports to share results back to the business offering insight and learnings.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other departments in the business.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key individuals and teams at the various agencies that you will need to work with on a daily basis.
  • Become an ambassador for raising the profile of social and digital within the wider UK business.
  • Most importantly, have fun with our followers. We have masses of devotees who can be our biggest spokespeople!

WE'D LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU IDENTIFY WITH THE FOLLOWING:

  • A complete natural with all social media platforms.
  • Enthusiasm about the brand is a must. We only want people who love KFC!
  • Copywriting skills that are versatile. The candidate needs to be able to adapt instantly to KFC’s tone-of-voice with flawless grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • We’re also looking for creativity and imagination, but with a sharp eye for detail, ability to prioritise, work in a team, deal with feedback, see the bigger picture and stay calm under pressure.
  • Prior experience managing internal and external relationships with key stakeholders.
  • As part of this role, you may be encouraged to assert your expertise and use data to back up your ideas. Good analytical skills and previous experience using social analytics tools would be a massive benefit.
  • The candidate should have some basic PR awareness and be able to keep a cool head to co-ordinate responses on social platforms when needed.
  • We really want someone who shows great initiative… impress us!

ABOUT YOU

  • Team player
  • Good communication skills (especially verbal)
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Positive can-do attitude
  • Proactive and not afraid to ask
