Commercial Sales & Marketing Manager

 Scarlet, Bedruthan & Create Cornwall

Location: Mawgan Porth, Cornwall (site-based)

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours over 5 days including one weekend day (part-time considered)

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 depending on experience

About the Role

We're looking for a commercially minded and proactive Commercial Sales & Manager to support the delivery of marketing, revenue planning and commercial sales performance across Scarlet, Bedruthan and Create Cornwall.

Reporting jointly to the Head of Marketing & Systems and the Head of Operations - Sales, you'll help to shape the day to day activity in Marketing, Sales and across the operation that drives revenue, demand, profitability and long-term brand growth.

This role sits at the intersection of marketing, revenue and operations. You'll take a whole-business view of commercial performance, forecasting rooms, spa and food & beverage revenue, identifying opportunities for growth and working closely with operational teams to improve guest spend, conversion and overall commercial performance.

Using commercial insight to inform marketing activity, you'll work with the team to ensure campaigns are delivered and respond to booking pace, trading conditions and business priorities. You'll also play a key role in developing a stronger sales culture across the hotels, supporting departments with insight, identifying opportunities to improve on-the-floor selling and helping teams build confidence in recommending our products and experiences.

This is a varied, hands-on role for someone who enjoys balancing people management with practical delivery, commercial analysis and collaborative leadership.

What You'll Be Doing

Commercial Planning, Revenue Insight & Campaign Management

  • Translate commercial forecasts and operational insight into clear marketing and sales priorities, ensuring campaigns support current trading conditions and future demand.
  • Turn commercial objectives into clear marketing and sales plans, campaigns and measurable actions.
  • Feed commercial forecasts directly into marketing planning, ensuring promotional activity reflects business priorities.
  • Support on the rolling commercial forecast across rooms, spa and food & beverage, identifying trends, risks and opportunities.
  • Analyse booking pace, occupancy, guest behaviour and spend patterns to identify opportunities to increase revenue across the guest journey.
  • Work closely with operational departments to understand business performance and develop commercial plans that support occupancy, spend and profitability.
  • Challenge the commercial viability of ideas and initiatives, ensuring activity delivers measurable return.
  • Identify opportunities for new products, packages, partnerships and guest experiences that generate incremental revenue.
  • Manage campaign timelines, budgets and priorities, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a consistently high standard.
  • Monitor commercial and campaign performance, reporting on results and recommending future improvements.
  • Prepare regular commercial, marketing and PR performance reports for the Head of Marketing & Systems and Group Sales & Revenue Manager.

Sales Culture & Commercial Development

  • Champion a proactive commercial and sales culture across the business.
  • Spend time within operational departments understanding guest behaviour and identifying opportunities to improve conversion and guest spend.
  • Work alongside department managers to identify sales opportunities across rooms, spa, food & beverage and retail.
  • Support the development of training initiatives that improve product knowledge, confidence and upselling skills across operational teams.
  • Encourage departments to think commercially through regular insight, forecasting and performance reviews.
  • Share business performance, forecasts and campaign plans in a way that helps teams understand how their contribution impacts commercial success.
  • Work collaboratively with Revenue, Reservations, Spa, Food & Beverage and Operations to maximise commercial opportunities across every guest touchpoint.

Team Leadership

  • Manage workloads, priorities and resource planning.
  • Hold regular one-to-ones, performance reviews and team meetings.
  • Create a positive, collaborative environment that encourages creativity, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Encourage the teams to think commercially and understand how their work contributes to business performance.

About You

  • You're naturally curious about how businesses grow. You enjoy looking beyond the numbers to understand guest behaviour, operational challenges and opportunities to increase revenue.
  • You’ll understand how to translate insights into tangible Marketing activity.
  • Equally comfortable reviewing forecasts, walking the operation and collaborating with teams, you'll enjoy influencing others, challenging ideas constructively and turning insight into action.
  • You'll be a confident communicator who enjoys bringing people together and creating momentum across departments, ensuring commercial thinking becomes part of everyday decision-making.

You'll bring:

  • Experience leading and developing people with a collaborative leadership style.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • The ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.
  • Strong commercial awareness and confidence using data to inform decisions.
  • Experience interpreting forecasts, identifying trends and translating insight into action.
  • The confidence to challenge ideas constructively and focus activity on measurable return.
  • The ability to influence others and promote a positive, commercially focused sales culture.
  • A flexible, team-oriented approach with a willingness to support the wider business whenever needed.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in commercial, marketing, revenue or business development, ideally within hospitality, leisure, tourism or lifestyle brands.
  • Experience producing or analysing commercial forecasts across multiple revenue streams.
  • Strong understanding of rooms, food & beverage and spa performance drivers.
  • Experience managing and developing teams.
  • Experience planning and delivering integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify opportunities.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in shaping the commercial success of one of Cornwall's most distinctive hospitality groups.
