ABOUT THE COMPANY 

Maxime’s is the newest opening from the club owner and entrepreneur Robin Birley; owner of prestigious private member’s clubs 5 Hertford Street and Oswald’s in London.

Maxime’s is located on Madison Avenue, New York on the site of the former Westbury Hotel and will continue the long-established Birley tradition of providing exceptional experiences to our members and guests.

Maxime’s mission is to deliver excellence in service standards with enlightened hospitality. Exhibiting passion for what we do within the values of who we are. Inward looking rather than outward projecting. A club of comfort and discretion where members’ needs are met with personality and humility. An environment of stimulating décor, celebrating outstanding food and extraordinary wine. Our members will feel that they are in a private house, being looked after with the utmost care and professionalism by friendly and attentive staff. 

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Membership Secretary acts as the liaison between the Club and current or prospective members. The Membership Secretary serves as the first point of contact for membership-related questions and inquiries, maintains databases and membership-related administration. This role requires an outstanding communicator, with a talent for building strong relationships between members and the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • To be the first point of contact for all membership enquiries.  

  • To report on membership data and key contributions to the new member lists 

  • Have a full and complete understanding of the membership process from initial inquiry, to processing new members and continued support thereafter.  

  • An ability to learn and put together which type of prospective members should make up the shortlist for the Membership Committee to then consider.  

  • Contribute on budgets/forecasts of membership in both membership numbers and income, appreciating the correct level of fees members should pay.  

  • To ensure all membership applications are accurate and complete before passing to the Director of Membership

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality or related industry preferred. 
  • Ability to be flexible with job demands and open-minded when being asked to complete tasks. 
  • Ability to operate with grace under pressure. 
  • Effectively deals with internal and external customers, with high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy.  
  • Experience working in a hospitality environment and/or in a similar role is essential. 
  • Prior experience in member management, sales, or recruitment environment preferred. 
  • High level of organization and attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at the highest levels.  
  • Ability to work non-standard hours, including evenings and weekends. 
  • Exceptional service and customer relations skills, with the ability to foster effective relationships with employees, management, and Members 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate ideas and concepts 
  • Proficient in computers systems, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office programs, internet search, social media and sales management systems. 

 PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • Frequently sitting, standing up and moving about the workplace. 
  • Using computer, telephone, keyboard and other office equipment. 
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.  
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. 
  • Reading and writing abilities are utilized often.  
  • Basic math skills are used frequently.
