ABOUT THE COMPANY

Maxime’s is the newest opening from the club owner and entrepreneur Robin Birley; owner of prestigious private members’ clubs 5 Hertford Street and Oswald’s in London. 

Maxime’s is located on Madison Avenue, New York on the site of the former Westbury Hotel and will continue the long-established Birley tradition of providing exceptional experiences for our members and guests. 

Maxime’s mission is to deliver excellence in service standards and hospitality. Exhibiting passion for what we do within the values of who we are. Inward looking rather than outward projecting. A club of comfort and discretion where members’ needs are met with personality and humility. An environment of stimulating décor, celebrating outstanding food and extraordinary wine. Our members will feel that they are in a private house, being looked after with the utmost care and professionalism by friendly and attentive staff.           

POSITION SUMMARY

The Kitchen Porter plays a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of the kitchen. You will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure that all cleaning and dishwashing tasks are handled efficiently to maintain a smooth operation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Cleaning: Ensure that all kitchen areas, including floors, counters, and storage areas, are kept clean and organized at all times. Perform daily deep cleans as per the schedule.
  • Dishwashing: Operate and maintain the dishwashing machines, ensuring all crockery, cutlery, and kitchen utensils are thoroughly cleaned, sanitized, and stored appropriately.
  • Waste Management: Manage waste and recycling processes by emptying bins, following recycling protocols, and ensuring the disposal area is kept clean.
  • Stock Management: Assist in the unloading, checking, and storage of deliveries. Be responsible for organization of kitchen supplies.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and company procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all kitchen equipment is clean, and report any maintenance or repair needs to the management.

 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS)

  • Prior experience in a kitchen environment is beneficial but not necessary; on-the-job training will be provided.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and a friendly, helpful attitude.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Ability to be flexible with job demands and open-minded when being asked to complete tasks.
  • Ability to operate and use all equipment necessary to run the shop.
  • Ability to operate with grace under pressure.
  • Ability to work onsite at varied hours/days, based on business needs and hours of operation, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to stand for up to 8-10 hours a day.
  • Willingness to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe working environment.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • On occasion, may be required to lift and carry, push or pull heavy objects up to 50 pounds; kneel, bend, ascend and descend stairs; reach and grab objects.
