Overview Maxwell Social is a vibrant, welcoming bar located in the heart of downtown NYC. We pride
ourselves on offering an exceptional experience to our members, with a focus on quality drinks,
outstanding service, and a friendly atmosphere. We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled
Bartender to join our team and contribute to our bar's success.
Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Greet members warmly, take orders efficiently, and provide exceptional
service to ensure a positive guest experience.
- Drink Preparation: Mix and serve drinks following established recipes, ensuring consistency
and quality. Create custom drinks based on customer preferences.
- Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain stock levels of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, and
other supplies. Assist in inventory counts and reordering as needed.
- Bar Maintenance: Keep the bar area clean, organized, and well-stocked. Ensure all
equipment is in good working order.
- Toast/POS Handling: Accurately process customer payments using the point-of-sale (POS)
system. As we do not take cash, no cash will be accepted.
- Compliance: Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations regarding the sale and
consumption of alcohol. Check customer identification to verify age if necessary.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with barbacks, servers, and management to
ensure smooth operations and a positive work environment.
- Promotions and Events: Assist in the promotion of bar specials, events, and themed nights.
Engage with customers to create a fun and lively atmosphere.
Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience as a bartender or in the hospitality industry in NYC
preferred.
- Knowledge: Strong knowledge of a wide variety of drink recipes, cocktail preparation
techniques, and proper serving practices.
- Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and work
efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Personality: Outgoing, friendly, and approachable with a passion for customer service.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy items, and work in a
busy, sometimes noisy environment.
- Certification: TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) or similar responsible beverage
service certification preferred.
