Title: Line Cook / Food Packer Assembly
Type: Full time / Part time
Reports to: Culinary Manager
Start Date: ASAP

Summary
Given the current outlook and situation with Coronavirus impacting livelihood, employment, and certainty in our everyday lives, MealCo is looking to help New York’s local communities. We are looking for team members who are within walking/biking distance to our current location in Long Island City, and who have experience in the food/kitchen space, need temporary employment because they are currently out of work, or on a permanent working basis. We need immediate support since we are a Food Delivery Company, and must operate to help the city get through the uncertainty of finding essential food items.
We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced restaurant professionals to join our team. This is an opportunity to join a new Delivery-Only restaurant from the ground up, which will require a tremendous work ethic, self motivation and the utmost dedication to achieve excellence. We look forward to assembling a great team!
This role is responsible for preparation, assembly and packaging of food with adherence to health and sanitary guidelines.


PRIMARY DUTIES include but are not limited to:
Prepare, cook and package food for delivery
Prepare recipes according to guidelines
Practice safe handling and temperature control of prepared foods.
Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work and kitchen area
Maintain record of food usage and assist in taking of monthly food inventory.
Complete monthly Food Service Self-inspection Report.
Practice proper functioning and cleaning of equipment and station area
Unpack, stock, & organize all items in and around the restaurant to maintain the highest level of cleanliness possible
Assist in taking inventory and practice FIFO methods
Any and all duties in accordance to operational needs

CANDIDATE PROFILE
MUST be reliable and punctual.
Two years’ experience working in a commercial kitchen as a cook or assistant cook
Maintain friendly, helpful and positive attitude at all times
Ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal direction
Communicates information effectively and efficiently
Able to work nights, weekends and holidays, and variable schedule, per business needs
Ability to multi-task and prioritize; Comfortable working in fast-paced environment
The ability to perform the physical requirements of the position (stand for long periods, and lift up to 30lbs.)
Able to prepare culturally diverse meals
Knowledge of all Health and Sanitary Codes
Comfortable with handling basic Computer skills, Internet
Valid NYC DOHMH Food Protection Certificate preferred
