Ready to take the lead in one of Glasgow’s best-known hotels?

If you’re an experienced hotel operator who thrives on leading people, driving performance and delivering exceptional guest experiences, this could be your next big move.

Following the career progression of our current Operations Manager, we're delighted to be recruiting for an ambitious and commercially focused Operations Manager to join the Glasgow Marriott Hotel's senior leadership team.

This is a high-profile role with genuine influence. You’ll work alongside the General Manager and lead the hotel’s operational teams, playing a key part in shaping the guest experience, developing our people and driving the overall performance of the hotel.

If you’re the kind of leader who is just as comfortable discussing the P&L with the General Manager as you are walking the hotel, talking to guests and supporting your teams on the floor, we’d love to hear from you.

What’s the opportunity?

As Operations Manager, you’ll take a lead role in the day-to-day operation of the hotel, working across key areas including Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Kitchen, Conference & Banqueting, Engineering and Leisure Club operations.

You’ll be responsible for bringing people and departments together around a shared goal: delivering an outstanding hotel experience while achieving strong commercial results.

Working closely with the General Manager and department heads, you’ll help set the operational strategy and make sure it is translated into action across the hotel.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the hotel’s operational teams to deliver consistently high standards of service.
  • Working closely with the General Manager and leadership team to deliver the hotel’s business strategy.
  • Providing strong leadership, coaching and development to department heads and operational colleagues.
  • Creating a culture where people understand what great service looks like and feel empowered to deliver it.
  • Being highly visible across the hotel and building strong relationships with guests and colleagues.
  • Monitoring guest feedback and satisfaction scores, identifying trends and driving improvements.
  • Taking ownership of guest issues and complaints, ensuring they are resolved quickly, professionally and positively.
  • Reviewing operational and financial performance and taking action to improve results.
  • Supporting the hotel in achieving revenue, profitability and labour targets.
  • Managing operational costs and ensuring resources are used effectively.
  • Ensuring Marriott brand standards are embedded consistently throughout the operation.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, service delivery and the overall guest journey.
  • Championing change and supporting the implementation of Marriott initiatives and business priorities.

What kind of leader are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who knows how to run a hotel — and knows how to lead the people who make it successful.

You’ll be an experienced hotel operator with the confidence to make decisions, challenge the status quo and take ownership when things get busy.

You'll bring:

  • Previous experience in a senior hotel operations or hotel management role.
  • Strong operational knowledge across Rooms and/or large catering operations.
  • Experience leading department heads and large, diverse teams.
  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of hotel financial performance.
  • Experience managing labour costs, budgets and operational targets.
  • A track record of improving guest satisfaction and service standards.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A coaching-led approach to leadership and a genuine interest in developing people.
  • The ability to remain calm, decisive and solutions-focused under pressure.
  • A passion for hospitality and an instinct for what makes a great guest experience.

A degree or professional qualification in Hotel Management, Hospitality, Business or a related discipline is advantageous, but we're more interested in the experience and leadership capability you bring to the role.

Why Glasgow Marriott?

This is an opportunity to join a globally recognised hotel brand while playing a significant role in the success of a major Glasgow property.

You’ll have the visibility and influence to make things happen — developing your leadership team, improving operational standards, strengthening guest satisfaction and contributing directly to the hotel’s commercial performance.

For the right person, this is an opportunity to make your mark.
