Description

Do you thrive in a busy, hands-on environment where great teamwork makes all the difference?

Do you take pride in helping things run seamlessly behind the scenes to create exceptional guest experiences?

Would you enjoy working as part of a friendly, supportive team in a beautiful coastal hotel setting?

What do we want?

We’re looking for a friendly, proactive, and reliable Porter to join our housekeeping team at Bedruthan and Scarlet Hotels. Porters play a vital behind-the-scenes role in supporting the smooth running of the hotel, ensuring stock, linen, and guest needs are all taken care of efficiently.

This is a hands-on, physical role where you’ll be supporting multiple departments, helping guests with luggage, and ensuring essential items are delivered where they’re needed most. If you enjoy helping others, staying busy, and being part of a supportive team, this is a great opportunity to join a unique coastal hospitality environment.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Support all departments by delivering stock and supplies as required
• Transport linen and towels between housekeeping and spa areas
• Assist guests with luggage during check-in and check-out
• Work closely with the housekeeping team to support daily operations
• Keep storage and working areas clean, tidy, and organised
• Provide general operational support across the hotel as needed
• Respond to guest requests in a friendly and professional manner
• Help maintain smooth, efficient, and high-quality service across the hotel

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a porter, housekeeping, or hospitality role is desirable
• Experience in a guest-facing environment is beneficial but not essential
• No formal qualifications required, but a strong work ethic is essential

Key Skills:

• High attention to detail
• Reliable, proactive, and self-motivated
• Strong team player with a flexible attitude
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work well under pressure in a busy environment
• Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling tasks
• Organised with a practical, hands-on approach

As a family-owned, independent Cornish business, we value every member of our talented team. We offer a range of benefits and perks to reflect our commitment to making our hotels such a desirable place to work. These include:

• £12.71 per hour plus a share of hotel tips
• A people-centric working environment
• Learning and internal career progression opportunities
• A permanent contract with 28 days holiday per year (29 after 1 year)
• Long service scheme, enjoy a free stay at Bedruthan after your first year
• Enjoy 40% off food and drinks, along with a range of other services throughout the hotel with our own discount scheme
• Local partnership discounts
• Health Shield Healthcare Plan
• Temporary on-site team accommodation is available

Perched on the rugged clifftops of North Cornwall, Bedruthan and Scarlet have always been trailblazers in hospitality—setting the standard for exceptional experiences and refined service. When you join us, you become part of one of the UK’s most exciting independent companies.

This isn’t simply a job — it’s the place you want to be.

AGENCIES: We’re not working with recruitment agencies on this role and thank you for thinking of us. Any unsolicited CVs will be treated as direct applications, and agency fees will not be due.
