Are you someone who makes people feel instantly at ease,
without needing to try too hard?
Do you understand how to read a room — when to engage, when to step back —
and how small details shape a truly memorable experience?
Are you drawn to thoughtful, refined service in a setting where quality,
pace and atmosphere matter just as much as what’s on the plate?
What do we want?
We are looking for a professional, intuitive and personable Restaurant Host to join the team at the Scarlet Hotel.
At Scarlet, the restaurant and bar offer more than dining — they are part of a slower, sensory experience. Floor-to-ceiling views of the Atlantic, soft lighting, natural textures and a calm, unhurried pace set the tone. Service is knowledgeable but never overbearing, attentive yet discreet. It’s about creating space for guests to fully switch off, while feeling completely cared for.
As the first point of contact, you will set this tone from the very first moment. With a warm, confident presence, you’ll welcome guests in a way that feels genuine and effortless, never scripted. You’ll manage reservations with precision, guide the flow of service, and work closely with the wider team to ensure each guest’s experience feels seamless and considered.
This role is perfect for someone who understands that great service isn’t just about efficiency — it’s about awareness, timing and emotional intelligence.
Responsibilities and Duties:
• Offer a warm, natural welcome that reflects Scarlet’s calm
and considered atmosphere
• Manage reservations and guest flow with care, balancing efficiency with a
relaxed pace
• Read the room and respond intuitively to guest needs, adapting your approach
accordingly
• Communicate clearly with the restaurant and kitchen teams to support a
smooth, unhurried service
• Maintain a host area that feels calm, organised and in keeping with the
Scarlet environment
• Support the Food & Beverage team in delivering attentive, seamless
service throughout
• Develop a confident knowledge of menus, drinks and daily specials to support
guest conversations
• Handle guest requests with professionalism, warmth and quiet confidence
• Uphold the Scarlet’s high standards of service, presentation and overall
guest experience
Qualifications:
• Previous experience in a premium hospitality, restaurant
or guest-facing role preferred
• Experience in a host or front-of-house position desirable
• A genuine interest in food, drink and thoughtful hospitality
Key Skills:
• Strong interpersonal skills with a natural, engaging
presence
• Calm, organised and composed under pressure
• High attention to detail and awareness of guest experience
• Ability to anticipate needs and personalise interactions
• Confidence to communicate knowledge in a relaxed, approachable way
• A collaborative, team-focused mindset
As a family-owned, independent Cornish business, we value every member of our talented team. We offer a range of benefits and perks to reflect our commitment to making our hotels such a desirable place to work. These include:
• £12.71 per hour plus a share of hotel tips

• A permanent contract with 28 days holiday per year (29 after 1 year)
• Long service scheme, enjoy a free stay at Bedruthan after your first year
• Enjoy 40% off food and drinks, along with a range of other services
throughout the hotel with our own discount scheme
• Local partnership discounts
