About the Family

We are a warm and supportive family based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Our home is faith centered and grounded in kindness, respect, discretion, and a deep commitment to providing excellent care.

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced caretaker to support our young adult daughter, who lives with cerebral palsy. She is nonverbal, uses a wheelchair, and requires consistent, hands on daily care. This is a meaningful, relationship driven role where you will play an important part in supporting her comfort, dignity, and overall quality of life.

You will be welcomed into a respectful home environment with clear communication, steady routines, and strong family support. Our home includes dogs, so comfort around pets is important.

Position Overview

This is a full time caretaker position focused on providing attentive, personalized care in a private home setting. Responsibilities include supporting daily routines, assisting with mobility, maintaining medication schedules, and communicating with the family and care team as needed.

We are looking for someone who is patient, dependable, and experienced in high touch caregiving. The ideal candidate brings a calm presence, strong attention to detail, and a genuine desire to provide thoughtful and consistent care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily living needs including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding while maintaining dignity and comfort
  • Support safe transfers between wheelchair, bed, and other equipment using proper techniques and assistive devices such as a Hoyer lift
  • Support medication routines as directed and maintain accurate documentation and schedules
  • Observe for changes in health status and communicate updates clearly to the family and care team
  • Coordinate with nurses, therapists, and physicians for appointments, follow ups, and care plan updates as needed
  • Assist with feeding during meals provided by the family, ensuring comfort and appropriate pacing
  • Provide companionship through calm and meaningful engagement such as reading, music, or activities aligned with her interests and abilities
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized care environment including light housekeeping tasks related to her care such as laundry and sanitizing equipment
  • Respect and support the family’s faith centered home environment
  • Learn and respond to her nonverbal communication methods, including eye tracking and gestures

Qualifications

  • 2 to 3 years of experience providing full time care in a high touch or intensive support setting
  • Experience supporting nonverbal individuals and assistive communication methods preferred
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification required
  • Experience with safe transfers and equipment such as a Hoyer lift preferred
  • Understanding of cerebral palsy and its physical and mobility impacts including positioning and range of motion support
  • Strong observation skills and the ability to recognize and respond to nonverbal cues
  • Comfort with structured routines and care documentation, including medication tracking
  • Physically able to perform the duties of the role, including frequent lifting and transfers, and able to safely lift at least 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working in a home with dogs
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and committed to confidentiality
  • Patient, compassionate, and calm in a close knit home environment
  • Comfortable working in a faith centered home and respectful of the family’s values

Work Environment

  • Private home located in Charlotte, North Carolina
  • Full time schedule
  • Schedule may include evenings, weekends, and some holidays
  • Coordination with family members and occasional visiting nurses and therapists
  • All required medical equipment and supplies provided
  • Meals provided during shifts

Compensation and Benefits
