Position: Assistant Sushi Chef
Location: Nikki Beach Baku

Position Overview

At Nikki Beach Baku, the Assistant Sushi Chef plays a key supporting role in delivering an exceptional sushi experience that reflects our signature barefoot luxury lifestyle. Working alongside the Sushi Chef and Executive Chef, you will contribute to the preparation, presentation, and consistency of high-quality sushi dishes, ensuring every plate meets our brand standards.

With a strong attention to detail, respect for premium ingredients, and a passion for culinary excellence, you will help maintain a smooth, efficient kitchen operation while upholding the highest standards of hygiene, safety, and teamwork.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of sushi dishes in line with Nikki Beach standards
  • Support daily mise-en-place, station setup, and end-of-service breakdown
  • Ensure freshness, quality, and proper rotation of seafood and ingredients
  • Execute knife skills, sushi rolling, and plating techniques with consistency
  • Maintain strict hygiene, sanitation, and food safety standards
  • Monitor stock levels and communicate needs to kitchen leadership
  • Work collaboratively with the culinary team to ensure smooth and timely service
  • Participate in briefings, training sessions, and team meetings
  • Support creative execution of menu items during events and activations
  • Handle sushi tools and kitchen equipment with care and professionalism
  • Uphold Nikki Beach grooming, conduct, and teamwork standards
  • Demonstrate a proactive mindset and willingness to learn and grow


What We’re Looking For

  • Culinary training or education in sushi or Japanese cuisine is preferred
  • Previous experience in a sushi kitchen or fast-paced culinary environment
  • Strong understanding of seafood handling and basic sushi techniques
  • High attention to detail with an eye for presentation
  • Ability to multitask and perform under pressure
  • A collaborative team player with a positive attitude
  • Knowledge of hygiene, sanitation, and kitchen safety standards
  • Open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement
  • Basic understanding of kitchen systems and operational checklists
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and events
  • Fluency in English is required; Russian and Azerbaijani are a plus
