Role Purpose

We are looking for a dedicated, hands-on Animal Care & Team Activity Member to join our team. This is a varied role where you will split your time between:

  • Animal Care & Husbandry – looking after the wellbeing of a wide range of species, ensuring high standards of welfare, feeding, cleaning, and interactive demonstrations.
  • Customer Interaction – supporting visitors, providing memorable experiences, maintaining public safety, and confidently speaking to the public, including small children during demonstrations.

You’ll need a keen eye for detail, practical judgement, and a genuine passion for animals. Tractor driving experience is a bonus!

  • Responsible, reliable, and punctual.
  • Able to work as part of a team and independently, taking initiative when needed.
  • Practical, proactive, and able to see what needs doing next.

Essential Skills & Qualifications
  • Level 2 Animal Care qualification (required to apply).
  • Current practical experience in animal care and husbandry.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with a bubbly and approachable disposition.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical fitness for standing, walking, and manual handling throughout the day.
  • GCSE Maths and English.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Full clean driving licence (3–4 years minimum).
  • Tractor driving experience.
  • Practical experience with a variety of animals.

Duties & Responsibilities

Animal Care & Husbandry

  • Provide high standards of welfare and husbandry for a wide range of animals, including sheep, goats, ponies, donkeys, alpacas, cows and pigs.
  • Assist with feeding, cleaning, mucking out, hoof trimming, worming, and general maintenance of animal areas.
  • Run interactive demonstrations such as guinea pig handling, goat feeding, bottle feeding, cow milking, pony patting, and pig “trotter time.”

Customer Service & Team Activities

  • Deliver memorable experiences to visitors in line with our mission and values.
  • Work from daily checklists to ensure animal welfare and smooth operations.
  • Assist with seasonal entertainment, including Christmas, Halloween, and Easter events.
  • Confidently speak to the public, including small children, during demonstrations and interactive activities.
  • Participate in tractor trailer rides after training.

Health & Safety

  • Support the Supervisor in maintaining high health and safety standards, keeping facilities clean, safe, and compliant with legislation and the NFAN code of practice.

Hours & Availability -  PART TIME HOURS
  • Approximately 6–9 hours per day 2 days per week.
  • Must include one weekend day per week.
  • Typical start time: 8:00 am.
  • Additional hours available during school holidays and for staff holiday cover.
