Theatre Supervisor
Old Joint Stock, Temple Row

Description

Join Fuller’s: Where the true you thrives and diversity is embraced. At Fuller’s we don't just offer jobs, we invite you to celebrate your authentic self. Our four core values – doing things the right way, being part of the family, celebrating individuality and always asking what’s next? – define the essence of who we are.

The Old Joint Stock is one of Fuller's traditional 'Ale and Pie' pubs. Popular with Birmingham's after-work crowd, the Georgian pub also boasts its own theatre - expect a lively atmosphere on show nights.

This particular Theatre  Supervisor role also offers a unique opportunity for someone looking to take the next step within the creative and theatre industry. Alongside supervising within the venue, the successful candidate will gain immediate hands-on experience across directing, casting, marketing, producing, creative development and wider theatre operations connected to the venue’s producing work. It is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious early-career creative hoping to one day become an Artistic Director, Director or Producer, offering invaluable real-world experience and industry exposure from day one. While the role is entry-level in pay, the level of involvement, responsibility and creative opportunity makes it an exceptional stepping stone for somebody passionate about building a long-term career in theatre and the arts.

What we can offer you:

  •  An exciting variety of career paths: Explore a wide range of roles and career paths across our pubs and hotels.
  •  Supportive environment: We put people first and strive for a collaborative and trusting atmosphere where everyone is valued.
  • Continuous growth: Engage in learning and development programs to fuel your personal and professional growth.
  • 25% discount on food and drink, across all our pubs and hotels for you and your friends and family. Increasing to 30% after one year, 35% after three years and 40% after five years.
  • A fair share of tips, paid on top of your hourly pay and paid on a weekly basis.
  • Discounted hotel stays at hotels in the Fuller’s Family
  • Access to ‘My Fuller’s’ – our online benefits platform where you can make savings at 100s of retailers and access discounted gym memberships, cinema tickets and much more.
  • Healthcare Cash Plan – after one year with us you will have access to a 24-hour GP service and the ability to claim your money back for dentist and eyecare appointments.
  • Full induction and training
  •  The option to receive up to 35% of your earnings as you earn them with Wagestream. This means you won’t always need to wait until payday.

Your role as Supervisor
To oversee the action - keeping the energy high, the service flowing and the guests happy.
You’ll still be out on the front lines, serving customers and working the bar, but you’ll have one eye on the team too. By passing on your wisdom and experience, you’ll play a key role in keeping our service levels high.
At Fuller’s, we take real pride in the premium quality of our products, and you’ll feel that same sense of pride when you see our customers having a brilliant time. You’ll feel it too when you help to train staff newcomers – and see them flourish under your guidance.
Alongside the operational side of the role, we’re looking for someone ambitious, organised, proactive and creatively driven, with a strong work ethic and a genuine passion for theatre and live entertainment. This role would suit somebody excited by responsibility and eager to immerse themselves in all aspects of running and growing a busy fringe theatre operation.
The ideal candidate will be confident managing multiple projects at once, communicating professionally with creatives and performers, and working both independently and as part of a team. Flexibility, initiative, problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are essential. Above all, we’re looking for somebody who is hungry to learn, develop and become a key part of the theatre’s future. Bar experience ideal and social media experience a bonus.
Team spirit is vital, and it really is you and the team that set the mood of the pub. That’s why it’s important for us to have the right personalities behind the bar and in the theatre.
So, while it would be great if you have previous experience of a similar role, we’re more interested in the character, ambition and personality you can bring to both the pub and theatre.
